To cover hyper pigmentation. I am looking for a foundation that will had my Melasma. I am not worried about mascara or eyeliner. My face is just so bad that I will feel self conscious if I don't have something on |

I believe MUFE Face & Body (one of my favorite foundations) is waterproof.
Its a little pricey ($42 in Canada) but a bottle lasts me a year.
It goes on fairly sheer, but they make a full-coverage foundation which I believe is waterproof as well. |

At the risk of sounding cheeky, I would stay out of the sun *completely* with hyperpigmentation. Enjoy the water and sand but do it after the sun goes down or early in the morning. Why risk causing more damage?
Dermablend has some heavy duty waterproof coverup makeups. Look for something to cover tattoos also. HTH |

I have melasma too but still go biking, kayaking, sailing and windsurfing so have done a few tests on making makeup water and sweat resistant. Totally understand about being self conscious re melasma - have had a few strangers try to brush dirt off my cheeks, not a good feeling.
Have spent hours getting splashed and sweating and use Kryolan Dermacolor Fixing Spray. First, I apply sunscreen and light foundation. Then top it with a tinted mineral powder sunscreen that also covers melasma. Finally, liberally spray the Dermacolor. Works well and even has spf 20.
Doesn't work that great for eyeliner but eyeshadow gets locked in place.
Found out about Dermacolor on a makeup artist blog - it's what they use to set makeup for outdoor photo shoots where the actor will be sweating or getting wet, to protect heavy camouflage makeup or shoots in swimming pools.
I know you don't care about mascara but Cyber Colors Ex Volume is totally water and rub proof. |

Thanks so much. Staying out of the sun is not an option. I have 2 children that love the beach. I have always used sunscreen and hadn't had any darkening but since we are going with friends to the beach, I would like something with coverage too.
Thanks |

Where do you buy kryolan? I have been looking at the official site. There are quite a few interesting products. |

Usually at theatrical supplies stores. A lot of those websites have a section where you can search for your nearest distributor/store. |

Well I live in Hong Kong now so bought it at the sole store that carries it here (on waiting list for over one month). But in the US, I have seen it at makeup artists stores in Los Angeles and you can also buy it online. |
