You need to allow time for the Retin-A to absorb before applying anything else. What is your intended goal in applying an oil? An occlusive or barrier, are you wanting to calm the skin/ reduce irritation or something else entirely? |

Retin A should be applied to clean skin before anything else. I'd say wait at least 30 minutes before applying another product or oil. This gives it time to work its magic on the skin. |

actually it doesnt have to be an oil - I think i said that as I was looking at my new purchased jojoba oil I have used retin a for the last 25 years - with good results, but as I get older skin gets drier....just wondered if its beneficial for additional moisture, or maybe I should just leave it. It seems to work on its own quite good - am over 50 with very minimal wrinkles. I beleive retin a has helped tremondously. |

As we age our skin barrier gets lower on lipids, cholesterol particularly depletes. IMO try a moisturiser containing medical grade lanolin because this supplies both cholesterol and saturated fatty acids. If you use an anti-ageing/ antioxidant type serum you might opt for one that uses lecithin as its emulsifier, this supplies precursors of ceramides. Most plant oils contain precious little of the lipids found in a healthy skin barrier. |

I have been using Retin A for almost a year and really do not see where it has done anything. I have crows feet and a dark spot what have not improved. I have lip lines and my neck is beginning to crinkle. What is is suppose to do? Maybe I do not understand what it does for your skin. I do not use it every night because my skin peels. I try to use it every other night or at least 3 times a week. Could this be the problem?
Thanks! |

Medical grade lanolin is not suitable for daily care of oily skin because of its skin-clogging capabilities. |

Don't stop Hattie!!...but yes, try to increase your frequency. Apply your Retin A then apply some CeraVe Moisturizing lotion immediately afterwards. I am formerly the Queen of "DON'T DILUTE RETIN A WITH ANYTHING"...but this forum and talking to Dermatologists have convinced me otherwise. After many years of RA, and peeling all the while, I now can tolerate it every day by adding the CeraVe afterwards. It would be a mistake to stop using it. It will definitely keep your skin looking better as you age. PM me and I'll send you a picture of what 26 years of Retin A can do for you. |
