I'm in that awkward phase in life where I have to step up my make up game to still look good. I usually wear thick black eyeliner and a champagne colored shadow - very simple and easy.
Right now I'm looking for affordable eyeshadow shades that would go well with my cold skintone and my brown eyes. I'm especially looking for colors one wouldn't ordinarily associate with 'cold' tones, such as gold and brown but I'm open to whatever.
I will at some point just go to my local Sephora and ask them to help me with the color matching but as I would prefer affordable alternatives first, I thought I'd come here to check (also, I have the impression that even make up people sometimes don't know their colors at all). |

The Urban Decay Naked 2 palette has more cool toned colors and taupe-like shades than the first Naked palette, but some have complained about the warmer shades in there too, so it might be a good one to consider. It's not a bad deal for 12 nicely pigmented, full sized neutral eyeshadows. I think its got a black, as well. |

My skin tone is cool as well.
I love Benefit's cream shadow Skinny Jeans.
Beautiful greyish/brown. |

Thanks so much, girls! I love both of these suggestions. Erg, the skinny jeans is so nice and neutral but has a really nice kick to it.
And LoriA, I love the urban decay naked 2 palette. When I googled it the naked 1 palette came up and it's awesome as well! Is the naked 1 palette mostly warm colors? |

what I really like about Benefit Cream shadows is that they look different depending on how the light hits you. I also LOVE birthday suit. These are the only eyeshadows I have actually repurchased! |

GORGEOUS recommendations, erg!
I'm no expert - I'm just echo'ing things I've heard. But I gather that Naked 1 is mostly warm, and has at least a couple of the very same colours in it.
Fascinating to me that so many people, especially young girls, use such subdued colours! |

Erg, both of these colors are awesome! Thanks!
LoriA, I did some research on the naked palette 2 and, yes, it seems to be more oriented towards colder colors. People seem to love both palettes. I'm going to head to Sephora and see what I can pick up. Thanks so much, guys!
And Lori, yes, I have noticed that amongst my friends, too. Most of us prefer a subdued eye and a strong lip over a sultry smokey eye and nude lips. I definitely still see a lot of girls with heavy, dramatic eye make up, though. |
