With cp, retin-a, acid, VC, dermaroller, can indented acne scar vanish completely in reasonable amount of time, e.g. a couple years?
thanks |

Everyone is different, so it is impossible to say. Some factors are how old the scar is, how deep the scar is, genetics, etc. Those actives are great for scars, but be sure to start off slow and one at a time. Retin a is he most potent and irritating, so maybe start that first then add in the vit c then the cp after your skin gets use to them. |

I forget the details of your scarring but have you looked into subcission or excision? |

Is subcission or excision something I can do at home by myself?
Last time I visited a derm, she told me because my scars are on nose, she can't go do aggressive treatment, so she said my only option is fraxel restore and Retin-a may help a tiny bit. |

NO, good lawd, NO NO NO...you cannot do subcision or excision at home!
Retin A alone can make the scar appear worse. Subcision is effective IF the scar is tethered (not all scars are, so have a derm examine you). But subcision can leave swelling and subsurface bumps for a long while. The most effective method, honestly, is to use Environ C-quence (or similar) for about a month, and then to needle. You could have a derm do the needling, as well.
Topicals alone WILL NOT repair an atrophic scar, so save yourself the time, money and frustration and do this right.
Scars on your nose are not tethered and so needling may be your best bet. Scars on the nose, to be honest with you, may not be repairable...however, they can be more easily disguised than scars elsewhere on your face with a silicone-based paste primer. Look into Clinique Pore Minimizer and other thicker consistency pore fillers. |

roller and topicals are my only options as my scars are on nose and no surgery, filler or ablative laser can be done on nose.
I checked out owndoc, Sarah even doesn't recommend dermarolling on nose, as the nose heals in an unpredicable way. It may get worse than when you started. |

Are they very obvious on your nose? If not maybe it's better to just leave it alone? Mine are on the sides of my face so they are pretty obvious |

they are very very very obvious and they ruined my life. I'm willing to fix them at all cost but nothing has worked. they are like cancer, there's no solution to it. |

If they are on your nose, it is not likely that you can improve the scars. I'm sorry to say it, but it is the truth, and I'd hate to see you continue to waste money on treatments that won't repair atrophic scarring on that area of the face. Focus on densely formulated cosmetic fillers/primers, like those made by Clinique and others. Most tend to be silicone based, which is sometimes tough to use on the nose. Ruby and Millie, a UK based company, used to make a clay-based primer that would be ideal for deep indentations on the nose, but it does need to be used under a foudnation as it is a light pinkish color. |

why do you say scars on nose can't be improved?
i also have scars on cheek, forehead, upper lip, they didn't improve better than scars on nose. |

How old are the scars? Where exactly on your nose are they? I would not give up, but don't spend a lot of money searching for the next miracle either. I hunk RA, vit c (laa), CPs, and dermaroller are you best options.
What is your skintone? If you have a fair complextion, peels may be another option. Do you currently use RA, vit c, CPs, a dermaroller, or chemical peels? All those are strong and should be started slowly and one at a time. |

I don't think dermarolling is a good option for the skin on one's nose, especially if you have thicker, more porous skin (as opposed to more refined skin). Most people who suffer atrophic acne scars have the former type of skin. You run the risk of worsening your problem. |

alright I'll stop stocking up on cp then.
my point is my scars on forehead, cheek, upper lip didn't improve much in the treatments as well. if there's a treatment that can remove them, I'd be happy too. surgery is not an option, i have hundreds of small pits looking like large scarred pores. |

The skin on your nose is different, thicker, porous. Atrophic scars on the nose are far more difficult to treat, and can easily be made worse.
Seriously, go see a cosmetic dermatologist and LISTEN to what you are told by your doctor. |

How long have you been treating your scares and what have you been doing or using? |

for a year, i had eight fraxel restores, marginal results.
i started acid, cp, vc, retin-a a month ago.
my scars are from a few months to fifteen years old.
i find older scars respond to treatments better. |

One month is nowhere near long enough to expect results with indented scars. How long have you been dermarolling? It can take over a year to see results. Make sure you are using your actives correctly in regards of pH, wait times, and interactions between the actives. When was your last fraxel? Results may still be coming from that. Be patient, some of them are new and will improve in time. |

Hi kmrmv8,
I have just dermarolled a couple times with a 0.2(or 0.5 mm, can't remember clearly) roller. I ordered 1.5 and 2mm dermastamp and will receive them next week. My last fraxel was mid May. I know not to use cp and vc serum together, 1st gen cp can't be used with acid together. Thank you for your encouragement. |

You need to STOP, allow repairs to develop from your last Fraxel, and use topical Vit A and C. You seem to be in a panic, expecting fast results...and results will NOT come quickly. That isn't how skin repair works. Doing too much can prevent or curb the results from your previous Fraxel treatment. Part of the repair process is allowing the skin time to fix itself while providing it with the materials (Vit A & C) to undertake those repairs. Chill out! |

I would suggest going to see a doctor/dermatologist specializing on improving the scar treatment. I don't think you can remove the scars completely. The doctor can tell you options for it. I saw on TV couple of months ago about laser treatment on scar improvements. Takes a lot of treatment to help improve on it.... I don't know what typ of laser treatment it was, but surely it helped diminish the prominence of those scars. Be patient. Results do not come overnight, takes time.... Good luck with your decision.

I had the unfortunate experience of facial shingles which left me with many large indented scars. I had the surface repaired with CO2 laser back in the day, but as I aged I developed large indentations where the lesions/scars had been. While treating other areas of my face I injected a few indented scars by way of experimentation. At first they became hard, coin like patches and over the next couple of months they gradually softened out and the area became normal looking with an appropriate contour. That was about a year ago and I have not had to reinject them yet to maintain the contour. Perhaps some collagen regenesis has occured, even if it has not this was an easy way to fix the problem.
I don't know if this is something derms do, though. |

Hi about your pores.... Are you sure they are not from Fraxel??
Because I had four fraxels for shallow acne scars in my cheeks but now I have microdots from the laser covering my face everywhere, like needle holes all over. It's laser holes and very common among people treated with laser.
I was never told this possibility and I am absolutely livid that my face is now covered in tiny icepick scars, literally all over.
Googled laser damage and skin texture it's very common side effect and non reversible ): |

I just tried a cream that contains Microsilver BG tm, and originally asked the company to send me a sample to review.
I had read that silver is supposed to help inflamation and be a good antibacterial and it was the one ingredient I had not really tried much.
I had a very bad looking scar and skin that was not healing in one spot on my face and it looked like I had a 1 1/2" very inflamed cut near my jawline.
-not only did it look awful, but was extremely painful to the point of constantly waking me up when I was trying to sleep.
I did see a cosmetic surgeon and a derm and was told it was just scarring (I did mention it was not scarring to the Drs. - but that my skin was also now broken out and inflamed..)
Cortisone injections made it worse and my skin now hurt even more AND was infected....great!
After about a month my skin is finally healing now and the inflamation went down 50% and I only have mild pain if I do not use the cream with silver in it (forgot to mention the brand was Zyderma)
*I also had a scar going through one eyebrow from a few years ago and just recently realized that it is almost gone (I was using the silver cream on my forhead as it was slightly broken out.
Also I tried out the Jack Black Mr Fix it silver gel and that did not make my skin better.
It also did not make it worse at least.
Is there also any kind of massage you can do to help scars heal faster??
Forgot to mention that I did a before and after of how their cream helped my elbow.
I did not want to do my face- even though it is very improved.
I'm also trying to do a before and after of my knees, but they do not photograph as well.
I also did go buy more of their cream, the small bottle does not last me that long using it on 4 body parts... |
