All of the many ingredients used in DIY serum recipes are supposed to help making us look younger as we get older.
However, do we actually consider the health risks?
I've seen several recipes including e.g. LAA nano powder. Is this actually L-ascorbic acid nanoparticles, and what happens to the human body, when the nanoparticles cross the skin barrier?
Several studies indicate that nanoparticles applied directly onto the healthy skin possess little or no risk, while nanoparticles that penetrate the skin barrier could be harmfull and actually cause cancer.
I am not trying to scare everyone from using skincare products containing nanoparticles. But on the other hand, we should be taking care of ourselves.
I'd be happy about a couple of wrinkles and age spots, if the alternative is liver cancer.
Safety concerns among DIY skin care enthusiasts doesn't seem to be an issue. Am I the only one concerned? |
