I had my second peel done Thursday. I had a 20 % peel done 4 weeks ago and didn't have any problems. I went to a doctors office so I felt confident that it was being done correctly.
I scheduled another peel for 4 weeks later. This last one was 40%. It has burned my skin horribly. One area of my cheek was "weeping " clear fluid where the skin was missing . When I gently washed my face and patted it dry,my cheeks
had areas that started bleeding. Help !!!!!What can I put on these areas to help them heal without scarring?????? It's the weekend and I can't get an appt. til next week. |

If you can't get to your doctor or an ER, see a pharmacist immediately - that's what I would do. May be that he's seen this before and has a suitable ointment. I use Neosporin after my peels for 24 hours to ward off any nastiness. Sounds like you got an industrial strength peel!
Whatever you do, DON'T pick at it or touch it even.
40% must be really strong. Strongest TCA I've done is 20% and it was mind-boggling, scary strong to me! |

You should have waited at least a month or so before going back to the doctors for another chemical peel with a higher concentration. I think, you skin is telling you that it is just too much so soon. Anyway, go to the pharmacy and ask for something special cream to ease the pain. You won't get scarred as long as you don't touch the peeling "forcefully" as it will peeled itself on its own in 2 weeks time.

Don't let your skin dry out. Put Vaseline or aquaphor on it to keep it moist. It will look worse before it gets better. You should leave it on for a few days until the new skin starts to shed the top.
BTW: I am surprised the doc would do one so soon after the first one. Was it the same doctor or did you see someone new?
Def. go back on Monday to see what he recommends. |

If I'm understanding correctly you had 4 weeks in between peels. That may be enough time to recover, depending on the type of peel. Do you know what type of acid was used? Glycolic, lactic and TCA are the most common. But there are other combinations done.
I agree with the recommendations to keep the skin moist. Use neosporin or aquaphor. Try to stay out of the sun.
Let us know how things work out. |

Agree. When I had peels done years ago in a doctors office, it was every 4 weeks. I had something very similar happen. I did not have the bleeding, just the raw skin and then scabs. They did not neutralize the glycolic acid completely, which sounds like what happened to you, Suthrngal. I would call your doctors office. They are on call even when not in the office. At least they could tell you what to use until you can get in to be seen. |
