Hi there! I'm on Obagi Nu-Derm for a week now and although I know I'm supposed to be all red and itchy, I would like to know if anyone out there uses anything at night to make their skin tolerate better the regimen. I have Zinc Oxide Cream (Desitin) or Vaseline but I'm not sure if I can use them. Anyone has some ideas?

Hello MissyZee Smile

Obagi regimen must be used in moderation. Don't over-do it, just a small pea-size (much smaller if you prefer) to apply on the face. I would suggest using Obagi ACTION moisturizer to rid of the redness and over-flakiness of your skin.

Results that you are experiencing now is so normal for the next 2-3 weeks. It will definitely subside as soon as the skin get used to it. Don't expect quick results as it is a gradually process and don't over-do is the key.

While on Obagi treatment, please use a sunscreen of at least 30 SPF (very important!).

(I would not suggest using anything else right now as Obagi kit is meant to complement each other)....

Does anyone know what Dr Obagi recommends to conceal the redness and flakes?

Do you want to CONCEAL/HIDE the redness or do you want to SUBSIDE the redness???

To conceal/hide redness, use a full coverage foundation.

But if you want it to SUBSIDE the redness, I suggest OBAGI ACTION moisturizer. This will subside the redness that she is experiencing.
I've used it on my skin and but it subsided the redness..

Unless you have any other ideas?

jade-1234, I was actually asking Dr Obagi's ideas regarding concealing/hiding the redness Rolling Eyes I checked Obagi's website but I haven't found any info. They only say that you'd better use mineral makeup but have no particular suggestions.

Hello RussianSunshine Smile
FYI, I had (too much) redness and flakiness before and the doctor who treated me advised me to use Obagi ACTION moisturizer. This doctor should know what she was saying, should she not? I followed the advice and it worked for me.

All I am saying is that this is based on my OWN experience and not heresay. This is just a suggestion and it is up to the person who is reading this, to either use this info to her advantage or ignore it.

But most importantly, is using Obagi in moderation, is important. We all want beautiful skin, but of course it takes time. Be patient.

Also note that I've been using Obagi kit for approx. 8years (maybe more, can't remember)...

Not sure about the mineral makeup as I discovered this only 2years ago... Can't say much about mineral make-up for the redness. I am still experimenting on different mineral make-up so not really sure if it will affect the skin and I'm no expert in mineral make-up...
