Gentics mostly determines everyone's pore size.
Pores enlargen from their normal, genetically determined size when they're filled with excess oil and debris.
But if someone with enlarged pores consistently uses BHAs or AHAs and regularly washes their face, can the pores return to their normal, genetically determined shape?
Or are enlarged pore like stretch marks--once they're there, they're there to stay?
Finally, can weight loss and facial exercise reduce the appearance of pores by giving the face an overall more chiseled appearance? |

I think using ReAura has diminished some of my larger pores. Sometimes it's hard to say what exactly is working if one is using more than one thing. |

A long time ago I had read that it is possible for pores to get stretched out. But I think if you stay on top of keeping them clean its less likely to happen. |

I agree with GirlieGirl that you need to keep it clean so that pores are not likely to "stretched". I don't know about others...

Paula Begoun says that they can return to their normal size, but I don't always take what she says as gospel. |

Yes!
I'm sure they can return to their normal size if, for some reason, they seem to have enlarged from their normal size.
Whenever my skin gets bumpy or my pores look gunky or large, I start using Osea's cleansing mud. Look up the reviews from years back on this site--a ton of users reported the same thing. Of course you could use AHAs/BHAs for the same purpose, but the Mud accomplishes this via an all-natural product. It makes the pores on my nose completely disappear.
In fact, I think it helps restore my skin barrier when I've over-exfoliated or with the change of the season.
I once had enlarged pores all over my face from using Copper Peptides, and I started a hands-off regime using the mud, and NIA24, and all my benign creams (no acids, serums, etc), and my pores eventually returned back to normal. I still have virtually poreless skin 6 years later.
I do believe that upsetting your skin's barrier causes temporary pore enlargement--which is why negotiating with abrasives and acids without paying very close attention to your skin can be a real gamble.

Everyone else has already covered this: but yes, pores can be reduced back down to their original size.
After a pore is "stretched," i doubt you can do anything to make it perfectly invisible. But shrinking it significantly? Yep! I'm living proof it can be done! |

Chlorophyll,
How did you shrink your pores? Please share your story. |

^The same old stuff. Periodic dermarolling and actives like niacinamide. Nice and boring, you know. |
