If 4.5 ml is 15% of 1oz then how many grams of powder C (MAP) is 15% of 1oz of liquid?
I know that its a unit of weight vs unit of volume but how the heck do I convert? 1 gram of water is equal to 1 ml of water. Should I just use grams of powder as if they were ml? I'm just trying to understand how to measure things properly so that I can make 1oz serum recipes of my own of various percentages. |

Or do I simply calculate 15% of 28.3 grams? Would that get me a proper solution %? |

This is always a tricky part of conversion.
The best way would be, to measure how much 1 oz of the material you want to use actually weighs, exactly, and take it from there.
Different materials have different weight/volume ratios, so 1 ml of water will NOT weigh the same as 1 ml of MAP. You will have to know the weight to calculate the proper solution. |

Thanks so much for your reply. I'll give it a shot and just go with 15% of 1oz weight rather than volume as you say.
4.245 grams is 15% of 1oz weight
4.436 ml is 15% of 1oz if measured in volume.
There's a tiny difference but I think I understand now. If I want to be super exact then it's probably best to weigh liquid ingredients rather than measure them in ml since the ounce is a unit of weight, not volume. My confusion came from the fact that 1 ml of most liquids converts very closely to 1g.
Yay problem solved!!
