Hi,
I've black age 16 and I've been having a problem with my upper lip. The upper has a line in the middle that makes a creacent shape with the inside a lot lighter than the outside.
I think it's because of the bottom lip covering the skin uptil the line. I tried keeping the bottom lip from covering the top lip for a long time, but as you can imagine that's hard to do.
Below the line it smooth and never peels. But above it it's layers of skin and can peel. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

hard to visualise exactly what you mean, but could it be that if the part of the top lip that is dry and cracked, is maybe pulling the inner of your top lip out a little? I am assuming that the lighter part of your top lip is not sore in any way.
I think that maybe you need to give your lips a good exfoliation and keep them oisturised. Best thing is to get an old toothbrush, dip it in vaseline and then gently brush your lips. Sounds totally bizaare I know, but it is great fro getting rid of dry skin on the lips. Use carmex liberally on your kisser and I am sure it will be looking lovely in no time!

Hi Ebay20!
I think I know what you mean - this is pretty common with those who (in my opinion) are lucky enough to have ultra-juicy kissers!! I think Guapagirl's idea is fab - the toothbrush route is great!! There is no doubt that you will have to be diligent in order to keep the exposed lip moist and soft - so that it doesn't contrast so drastically with the part of your top lip that gets hidden by the bottom lip (which probably is always pretty moist and soft). If I were you, I would invest in a lip product with exfoliating properties so that you are in perpeutual sloughing mode; this will help to keep the demarcation between the two lip textures of your upper lip minimized. My all-time fave is Laura Mercier's lip silk - it has a gentle exfoliating action (really gentle!). If you aren't interested in LM, just check for something with gentle exfoliating properties. This, in conjunction with the toothbrush sloughing and a pocket lip balm with an SPF should give you great results! (Don't leave home without your lip stuff!!). If you are wearing lip gloss or lipstick, try, if possible to wear a colour that is close in shade to the area of the upper lip that gets covered by your bottom lip - so that when you smile, you'll have a more even, uniform colour to your lovely lips!
Good Luck!

Thank you all for the quick replys. I will try your suggestions (and the vaseline and toothbrush)and see what happens. As for lip products, I would like to know if there are products, especially for this. I could search the internet if I knew the right keyworks so please postem' up for me.
I'm still taking other ideas too!

I swear by carmex for super soft lips (I wear lipfinity and if your lips are even a little bit dry, it looks awful!). Carmex contains salicylic acid whic sloughs off the dead skin ...it is a true wonder balm, even getting rid of the crusty patches caused by students elbow
