Hi All:

I am not sure if anyone here may know about this, but i experienced Vit A toxicity many years ago, due to a drug/medication called Accutane, which is used for Cystic Acne.'

Anyway, I have just ordered a Vitamin A and D moisturiser, through Sarah Vaughter site, and am wondering if maybe it's a bad idea to use it, because of the previous vit A toxicity to my body

Would the Vit A in the moisturiser form, still absorb into one's bloodstream, or does it just sit on top of the skin in topical form, and not aborb into the blood?

Thank you

Storke

The Vit A moisturiser contains 48,000 I.U. of retinol

Which of course sounds a lot, but have no idea if this IS high or not.

The tolerable upper limit for vitamin A (retinoid forms) is 10,000 IU/day. So as long as you are not using the entire bottle (48,000 IU), it should be okay. Don't know the answer to your question about skin penetration and the percentage absorbed, so that should mean you can handle more than the dietary UL, but I don't know how much more. HTH Smile

Give it a try and see how you feel. I don't know how much of it would be absorbed into the bloodstream. Personally for me, if I take internally 10,000 units of vit A per day I get a headache and nausea pretty much right away. If I apply that Vit A to my face by opening the gelcap and rubbing it into my skin - I don't feel any negative sideffect. My skin seems to really like it though.
