Hello All!
I need help!
I dont know what happened but I got all broken out on my face!
I have never realy had problems with acne other than maybe a couple of spots before my period..
But now my chin and forehead are a huge mess!
I was reading thru the posts trying to see what kind of products I should use to help get rid of those breakouts but I just got really lost and confused.
I just recently had a facial, started using Vit C and also SkinCeuticals Renev Overnight (could that make me get spots, it's supposed to exfoliate at night to help decongest the pores...?). Could that be the problem?
I have dry/sensitive skin and I dont know what kind of face wash I should start using to deep clean the pores and prevent future breakouts..
Another thing, what can I do to help the spots that are already there heal and dissapear quicker?
I really need your help and advice.. Sniff sniff...

Hello Aga,
Do not worry so much. It's my case too everytime I have a facial or using a new product. You just have quite sensitive and reactive skin. You may have what my doctor called "acute dermatitis". It will go away soon after a few days. Give your skin some time to rest and heal. I use Decleor Harmonie Balm to sooth and calm my skin. At the meantime, go slightly on Vit C and Skin Ceutical. Hope this helps. Leila. |

Hi Aga, only last week one of the members said she went for a facial and she had a breakout too. Its so unfair cause you go for a pampering sessin and end up so unhappy. Remember when you have a facial they are using products your skin is not used to. In a few days you will be ok so try not to fret too much. I would maybe give your skin a rest and only use essential skin care till it calms down. Try giving the miracell another go on its own at bedtime. Good Luck. |

My goodness! Sorry to hear about your dilemma!
I think you answered your own questions. Any time you change products or even get a facial skin will react. So, if you continue to get facials this is what will happen.
But currently to get your skin clear again, use a very gentle cleanser twice a day, use a beta hydroxy acid to keep your pores CLEAN and over that a thin layer of a well formulated acne medication such as Persagel or Paula's Choice Blemish Fighting Solution. If you do these 3 things daily, I'm positive your skin will be lovely in a couple weeks. Good luck! |

Oh and I forgot to say Aga, theres no need to be confused over what to use when it comes to breakouts. If you go to cosmeticscop.com and read the Skin Care facts section under Learning, it'll be quite definitive for you. This method works because I've been through it and back and it works for thousands of others too. |

Aga, research the cleansers well and be sure to pick the right one for you. Go for hydrating if you can, the last thing you need is to get a cleanser that will dry you out. I'd go for a cream wash as opposed to a gel. If you prefer to cleanse and tone, some toners can dry you out so be sure to have a good moisturiser at hand. |

Aga, have you tried Decleor. They have a great range of products, they do some really gentle cleansers and some good hydrating moisturisers and masks. If you have dry sensitive skin, I think this would be a good range for you. Start off with two or three products and try to balance your skin out without overloading it. The prices here on EDS are really good. Have a look through their range. It may be able to sort you out. There are alot of Decleor fans on this forum who can advise you. |

Any water soluble cleanser works best. Theres lots of good ones right on this site or at the drugstore. It doesn't have to have a beta hydroxy in it. I would use the BHA as a separate item after cleansing. I don't know of any BHA moisturizers. |

Some very good BHA products to use would be:
My very favorite is Paula's Choice 2% BHA
And some others that really DO WORK and are formulated in the right way so that it works are:
Estee Lauder Fruition Extra Mild Action Complex
Estee Lauder Clear Difference Oil Control
Origins Clearance Time
Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion
MAC Oil Control Lotion |

It could be the facial or just your skin reacting to the change in skincare regime, or both!
There are some very good BHA products on the market. Personally I use MDF Clearing Complex Masque and the spot treatment. I also like Dermalogica Medicated Clearing Gel (gentler than the MDF IMO) and their Oil Control Lotion (moisturiser with BHA in it). However, I would also like to point out that there are natural products to help out with breakouts, such as YonKa Juvenil and Creme15 for example. Both the BHA and the natural products tend to work really well for my skin.
I hope your skin clears up soon! |

Dermalogica's Oil control Lotion certainly has BHA in it ( sometimes they call it salicylic acid too) and so does Neutrogena's Multivitamin ( for acne) moisturiser and also from their Skin Clearing range... the Skin Clearing Moisturiser is light and contains BHA.
If you are usually dry and sensitive though... dont go plying say Dermalogica's Oil Control lotion all over the whole face, ( or their Medicated Clearing gel, good stuff too) just do it on the break out areas!
Good luck! |

Thanks for the info girls, you ARE very helpful!
I think I am going to have to see a dermatologist cuz it seems like a VERY bad reaction to the facial
Do you think that the Oil control loction would be okay for dry skin?

Hmmmm... if you are considering seeing a dermatologist.... hang off on getting anything else new till you hear what they have to say.
It's my bet that they'll suggest something completely gentle and non invasive and let the breakouts heal on their own rather than forcing the issue. ( specially as you have dry skin normally) I can hear the words "Cetaphil" already lol...
If you do end up with the Dermalogica approach... maybe just the Medicated clearing gel even ( I know ..we did mention the Oil control lotion) but ONLY on the spots! You dont want to aggravate your "normal" bits ... try to use calming stuff on the rest of your face. |

Aga,
From what I can remember of your others posts you have just bought a lot of new products. Between the facial and all the new product I think you are having a case of overload!! I am sure the derm will be able to help you. Try to take it easy on your skin for a while. When you start your routine again introduce products slowly. |

Thanks Winnie and Muzzie
I did get new products but the only new things I used after the facial was JB cleanser ( used it once) and Vit C plus SC night cream.
I stared brekaing out before I used the new items, so I am not sure how much they contributed.
I didnt break out where I used the Vit C at least, so that makes me feel a little bit better
I never had problems with introducing new products before, but maybe I did try too much at once plus the facial didnt help....I also tried new exfoliant.
I hope a derm will help me get out of this mess.
For the future: How to introduce new products to make sure they wont cause breakouts?

Aga,
When I worked at the front desk of a skin spa it was not unusual for a client who just had a facial to experience breakouts. After a facial everything is brought to the surface. I know it is really hard for you right now but perhaps in the long run it is a good thing. |

hehe, thats what I am telling myself Winnie lol
I made an app with a derm for Thursday, just in case
I am not sure what is exactly going on cuz I had the facial done almost 2 weeks ago and each morning I wake-up with 3 extra big painful spots. And Ive never had that kind of spots, not so big, deep and painful...
