on her facebook page, she says they aren't really natural:

The trouble with “natural sunscreens” is there’s truly no such thing. The process used to extract and manufacture so-called “natural” sunscreen actives into an SPF formula isn’t natural in the least. The actual sunscreen actives used, especially minerals like zinc oxide, in their “natural” state are very unpleasant on skin—they’re thick, heavy, and leave an obvious white cast. Also, extracted right from the earth, zinc can be tainted with lead, cadmium, and other naturally-occurring heavy metals. Therefore, used in their most natural state, it’d be a health risk—but synthetically modified, it’s not.

Shock Shock Shock Shock

Then she says that it is impossible to make a clear mineral w/o nano:

How do natural skin-care companies create transparent (no white-cast) mineral sunscreens, but claim non-nanotechnology AND the use of uncoated zinc oxide? The answer, as far as every cosmetic supplier of zinc oxide we could find reveals, is they aren’t—if their sunscreen’s zinc oxide goes on transparent, it’s also a nanoparticle-sized or synthetically micronized formula. There’s simply no other way to achieve this benefit!

I guess it doesn't really matter about the nano as it doesnt souds like a safety prob but I am shocked that so many organic skin care lines say they have clear sunscreens w/o nano. Are they lying??? Neutral

Omg I feel like organic lines are no different than Estée Lauder with their marketing claims. I feel like a moron for buying into it all. I care more about being protected from sun exposure where I live (so sunny) and skin cancer runs in my family. I am not worried about nano but liked the idea of natural products. I was using devita SPF 30 and always wondered thought it that they had a such a high amount of zinc strange because it didn't make me look like Casper! But now I am worried they aren't being honest or they don't know what they are doing to say they aren't using nano. I think I will try the Keys SPF though thank you for the link!!
