Hi All,
This is a sad post for me.
My 7 year old son, yesterday, got put into a headlock by a bully at school, and then he shoved my son's face into a sharp corner of a bag, and dragged his face along it.
Now there is a long linear scratch on his cheek from the side of his nose across his cheek, to almost his ear. It has now formed a scab on it. This happened yesterday, and as soon as I saw it, I applied aloe vera to it. I have applied it about 4 times now in the last 15hours.
But of course, aloe vera is very drying. It LOOKS like it might not heal with a scar (quite superficial but it did slightly cut the skin)
Do you recommend continuing with the aloe vera, or applying something else to it??? the aloe vera has really sealed it. I am using aloe vera from the plant outside my house.
I am most concerned about him getting a scar.
Any advice please??

| He'll heal, but if I were you I would be calling a lawyer to draft a letter to that boy's parents. NO way in hell would I let some little (^#$%*&^#@ hurt my child, not without consequences! |

Gone through the right channels to handle this through the principal and kids parents.
Do you think aloe vera is the best ? part of the scratch is already healed up.
What i love about aloe vera is how it seals up a wound.
any other skin healing without scarring info pls???? |

Copper peptides are what you should look into for healing scarlessly.
They sell them here at EDS or you can also get them from the mfgr at Skin Biology. I would recommend a mild product like their Protect and Restore or the Skin Signals Cream. Be forewarned - the products don't have a pleasant smell (the CPs in them). |

Btw, I'm really sorry to hear that this happened.
I'm glad that several lawmakers are creating anti-bullying laws and that more people are speaking out against it.
I hope that you find something that works. |

cut skin???!!!
that's not just bullying
that's physical assault.
on any skin cuts my first response is Polysporin or Bactine spray (considering it's a facial cut, spray on your finger and apply the liquid with your fingertip onto the cut on his face). Bactine spray forms a scab quicker and, in my experience, seldom leaves scarring. |

In my experience I have found that a scab is the best form of healing, rarely leaves scar
everything i have read for past 2 years says opposite.
to dissuade a scab from forming, and should keep area moist
everytime I have done that, followed the NO SCAB and keep wound moist, I get a scar!!
but when i allow a scab to form, and dry out, and allow to fall off on its own (WITHOUT applying moistursers etc etc on scab), it heals scarless!!
That's weird to me!
I have also noticed this healing on my son as well, allowing scab to form, and fall off on its own |

A scab is a natural part of the repair process. It is the scaffolding of the newly forming collagen and needs to be left in place and kept moist. When you remove a scab, you're also removing some of the newly regenerated tissues underneath, which interfers with the healing process.
Yes - absolutely let it fall off on it's own.
And please do everyone a favor and hold that bully accountable. You may save him in the long run from harming others and potentially damaging his life from his poor choice of actions. Best of luck to you and your family. |

fully agree
the Polysporin, I mentioned, does keep the cut skin very moist with the potential of scarring
the Bactine liquid, I mentioned, does dry the wound, allowing a scab to form quicker, and the scab eventually falls away naturally |

When my son was in grade school; he developed a pimple like bump under his eye. It was not a pimple; but did look like one.
Eventually he saw a plastic surgeon who removes the bump. Biopsy was done and no explanation for the growth.
To promote healing without a scar, the PS suggested keeping it moist. My son was to apply a warm damp washcloth as often as possible.
It did heal with no scar.
I am sorry your son had to meet up with a bully. |

How is your little fella now? I know the scar will heal, but I'll bet it was traumatic for him. I remember a boy punched me in the stomach when I was 5 years old, and the emotional shock and pain were worse than the punch.  |

Hi there,
an update. The scab came off. he as at his dad's this weekend and when he came back it was off. Think it came off prematurely with his normal child activities.
looks like its going to completely heal up, without scarring. i applied cocoa butter cream to it tonight, to keep it from drying out.
