Anyone's man do anything super sweet for valentines day!?

My boyfriend usually gets me flowers but not this year....nothing. My dad the most unromantic guy on earth got my mom flowers which he never does so my boyfriend looks REALLY bad today.

Oh lianne, dont be to hard on your boyfriend. Flowers on Valentines day is good but the shops charge so much for his day its really bad. Your boyfriend may have something else up his sleeve for you. Me and my partner dont even get cards.... I think its silly. But for new couples I think its a good idea....

I think Valentine's day is cute for new couples or for sending something anonymous Smile We don't do anything for valentine's day because it's so commercialised and we give each other stuff when we want to throughout the year. I like to give presents when I feel emotionally driven to, not when the tv tells me too Smile

Ditto. No VDay cards or presents here - it's "over Hallmarked" and I prefer to be surprised and to surprise others throughout the year.

I'm with the rest of you. After 16 years together, I much prefer gifts and surprises throughout the year. My bday is in Jan, not even a month after Christmas, I think dh gets a little tired of shopping for me three months in a row. Wink

Although I completely agree with all of you, my other half doesn't quite believe me when I say it's not important/it's just tacky/I don't want anything etc etc He always plays on the safe side and gets me something just in case. This year it was a dozen red roses. But just to be different, they were delivered on Friday so that "I could enjoy them all weekend".

Ah bless

I spent 2 whole hours making his card Embarassed

That's sweet, rzecka. Smile I don't think any of us would complain if our dh's made a huge day out of Feb 14 as well as all year round surprises. I think it's great you two make a point of celebrating.

I know, I'm ashamed to admit I was a little peed that I got them on Friday and not on the proper day, but before you all shout at me, I'm totally appreciating it now. Yes, I'm very high maintenance Laughing

oohh...see not all of us think it's a tacky holiday!

I guess I'm surprised more than anything. He always takes the time do spoil me. I just felt like he forgot about me or that I didn't deserve it. Like at christmas he forgot to give me the card he bought so I still haven't gotten it. I suppose I feel like he's at that comfort point where he feels he doesn't have to make as much effort.

I dunno....I got him a nice card, bought his favorite chinese food dinner and cheesecake for dessert...

We don't tend to buy cards for each other, we make them instead. Nothing soppy though.
I told my boyfriend that I didn't want flowers. He always gets me flowers on special occasions and I'm a little bored with them. They look nice for a few days and then when they start wilting and dropping petals everywhere they are just a nuisance. I hinted that he could buy me some Decleor instead. However, he went down the lingerie route. Rolling Eyes Nothing kinky, just a chemise. I think he didn't want to risk getting me the wrong Decleor products.
I bought him a new PS2 game. It'll keep him quiet for a few weeks. Very Happy
I'm not a big fan of the whole Valentine thing but if I stop sending him a card/present now he will probably get suspicious or think that I've gone off him. Sensitive soul. Laughing

I doubt that's the case, Lianne. Like you mentioned earlier, maybe he's just got to that point where he doesn't think it's so important to make such an effort. It doesn't mean he's gone off you. When I first started out with my boyfriend he would insist on celebrating the anniversary of our first date every month. That meant going out for a meal on the 8th of every month. After about 1 year it tailed off. We've got to that 'old married couple' stage now where we don't really make any effort but it doesn't mean our feelings have changed towards each other. Smile

That probably is the case. I just don't want to be that old married couple until we're actually married.

Last night he apologized and said he had planned to do something special another night. I just said he should've told me that to begin with...

no more pissy lianne anymore.
