I am a bit confused about the way these 2 components work together. It is recommended to combine them in some water-based concoction, but I am getting contradicting information on the concentrations:
twice as much niacinamide than glucosamine or the other way round?
I'd like to try 5% niacinamide and 2.5% glucosamine mix, but not sure if it's optimal. |

I think most of the studies done used 4% niacinamide and 2% glucosamine. I heard one source that had this reversed, but I think it may have been a typo.
In this study, the 4-2 combo actually did better than an spf 15 at evening out sun damaged skin. (WOW!)

For acne, niacinamide was tested @ 2-5%.It just depends on what you want, I guess. It would stand to reason that 5% nia to 2.5-3% nag would do just great. I don't think anybody has tested them at these exact concentrations, though. |

I will use the 4% B3 and 2% NAG combo then.
My goal is smoothing out the complexion and reversing sun damage.
I saw a few recipes, but want to keep it very simple, to avoid mistakes as a novice DIY-er. Can I just use things like Sea Kelp bioferment or aloe vera or some moisturizing cream as the base? Or can I simply mix the powders in water? Which base will not mess up required PH balance for B3-NAG to be active? |

I've been making my serum using the information provided by BulkActives for a number of years now. Their blurb states 4% Glucosamine with 2% Niacinamide. Read here:

My recipe is:
1/2 tsp Glucosamine
1/4 tsp Niacinamide
1 tsp Glycerin
1/2 tsp Aloe Vera
Water to make up to 30ml. |

Thank you so very much for your help and for the recipe, Keliu! I don't understand how there could be so much difference in proposed combinations. Wouldn't my results be significantly different if I do 4% glucosamine & 2% niacinamide or 4% niacinamide & 2% glucosamine?
Has anybody tried the two concentrations and saw any differences? |
