Well, firstly I'd better give a brief description of my skin type. I have oily/combination skin and I am 16. I started using the clarisonic mia 1 week ago. At first my skin improved however now I'm going through the 'purging' phase. I don't mind this as I know it is generally a normal thing however I have recently notice really dry patches on the sides of my nose and around my chin. They actually feel scaly. I switched to the sensitive brush head a few days ago. But where the dry skin is, it really hurts in the crease of my chin and nostrils. I wondered whether I should stop using the clarisonic or whether this dry skin would go with time and my skin would improve. After every uses of the clarisonic I moisturize and rinse the brush. Should I switch cleansers as I am currently using a foaming cleanser with salicylic (no idea how you spell that) acid? Someone please give me some advice.

Welcome to this forum, HHustad Smile I would back off with the clarisonic till your skin heals (use your hands instead for now). Using cleanser with salicylic acid tells me that you have pimples/acne? Salicylic acid formulation in cleanser will make your skin dry... I suggest use a mild/gentle cleanser instead to clean the face with clarisonic once you skin heals. Also, use a oil-free toner to restore the pH balance of your skin. A good oil-free moisturizer after cleaning your face is necessary to restore the moisture on your skin (though you said you have oily/combination skin).....

Hi Jade,
I don't have acne, just mild spots on occasion, and I only use this cleanser because it's garnier and the one i was using prior to using the clarisonic. I already use an oil free moisturizer as to not make my skin more oily than it already is. Thanks for the advice.

Hello HHustad Smile If this is the case, then your cleanser with salicylic formulation is too strong for you. As I suggested, use a mild gentle cleanser instead. Try perhaps St-Ives apricot facial wash or Dove brand cleanser which are gentler...But make sure that you let your skin heal first before using Clarisonic again.... Hope this helps Smile
