I am still debating on the Tripollar Stop, the CACI Microsoft or the Nuface trinity.
I don't really have jowls or any lines yet. But am starting to see the shadow of Jowls and some very fine lines when my skin is dehydràted.
Of course budget is also a factor, so the CACI device might be a bit out of range for me.
PQ, looking forward to your review on the Trinity! And if you have a chance, please give some insight on your experience with the Tripollar (both Stop and Pose). |

I've been inspired by others on this forum to log and post my results every 2 weeks for the next 12 weeks.
I'll be using the Slendertone Face (simply because i just bought it) AND, because I have the NuFace Classic gathering dust, I'm going to use that a little too as I'd like to lift the lower face and tackle marionette lines which are starting to form (or MossChops as my partner likes to call them...).
Depending on how I get on, I may get an integra / caci and add that into the mix as my eye sockets are a little sunken / bags / puffy - but not just yet.
At some point I'll add in facial exercises. And I may take pictures although I don't necessarily think photo's really show up the differences unless they're taken in lab conditions but we'll see...
For context, the skincare I'm using is Environ AVST5 so my actual skin itself is in pretty good condition. I have some slight inflammation on the cheeks but I think that's due to diet.
So... for the first 2 weeks I'll just stick to Slendertone Face. See you soon! |

Hi everyone,
I recently started using the Integra microcurrent machine again, which I have had for a long time but never really used for any length of time.
However, I have noticed it actually makes my facial muscles quite soft and lax looking after a treatment. I do seem to get better results from EMS devices (similar to to Tua Viso) - but it appears these may be harmful to muscles in the long term.
Has anyone else experienced this from microcurrent? I know PQ has an Integra machine and likes it, which makes me wonder if I am using it incorrectly or something.
ps have most people stopped using EMS devices now?
many many thanks

Jackie, can you elaborate on what happened regarding your muscles looking "lax" after a microcurrent treatment? (how long did it last, did it then improve or not, do you think you've done long-term harm, etc.). I'd also be interested to know if anyone else has experienced this.
Thanks!

Hey Jackie, I just started using microcurrent and thought I might be regressing because I cut back on facial exercises at the same time to see what would happen. (I am looking for more volume in my face.) I have found that you need to drink a lot of water with it. In fact, an EDS friend of mine recommended this. I think if you don't, you might experience dehydration and that in and of itself might make the muscles appear more lax. So that the treatments are most effective, I usually drink a full 20 oz. before I do a treatment each day, and then try follow it up with 2 or 3 more 20 oz. bottles during the day ....so I would say I drink somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-80 oz. a day. I used to worry that if I drank that much, I'd have to pee constantly, but surprisingly that didn't happen. I believe that drinking all this water really helps keep the skin and face looking its best anyway. Just a thought, but perhaps PQ or some of the others will chime in about this. HTH, Aprile |

thanks Aprile, I may try this then, - although I already drink quite a bit of water anyway, but maybe if I increase it slightly on the day it may help,
@ Dotty, the muscles just felt sort of squishy and very very soft to the touch, which I didn't like. It was visibly noticeable too. It seemed to wear off after a few days, but this seems to be an unusual reaction from what I can gather,
thanks

My sympathies Jackie, sorry to hear you experienced that, luckily it went back to normal after a couple of days. Did you try just that once, and will you give it another go or have you been scared off microcurrent? Have you ever had microcurrent in a salon before, or just using your at-home device? Sorry for the questions, it's just that I've had a problme with sag and I'm contemplating microcurrent, so just trying to gather as much info as possible.

Hi Jackie,
I think the extra water could really help, but if you are already drinking a lot ... you might consider other things. If you could get PQ's opinion he might have some good answers for you. Such as, the settings of the unit and the intensity level. I believe if it's set too high, it could be overstressing the muscles. Something to think about... Best, Aprile |

somehow I cant seem to make myself accept that EMS and /or MC can deplete muscles of ATP in way that it cant be restored.. people walk, jog , run, strenuous workouts in the gym and ATP is restored in a healthy person so why not same in the face?! |

I am going to do a review on my blog to show you how to use it, in the next few weeks.
Any conductive gel is fine.

Hi Daler,
I think the reason overstressed muscles show up in the face is because the muscles are attached into the skin. So if the muscles are overstressed, then the skin sags. I believe many facial exercisers may have experienced this at some point. Some might call it an awkward stage, but I believe it's the muscles being overstressed. Don't get me wrong, microcurrent is fabulous, but I think some settings might be too strong for the facial muscles. That is why I would like to hear what some of the microcurrent experts have to say. Best, Aprile |

It's true if facial exercises are done too often without adequate breaks then one experiences a sag, I have experienced that myself.. |

Daler, I would like to see what PQ has to say about sagging with microcurrent. According to the NuFace site, you should not feel a contraction with microcurrent. However, even my little unit if intensity is up too high, you will get a contraction around the eye area. So that is why I think it is quite possible to overstress the muscles w/microcurrent if not used properly. Take care, Aprile |

I believe, we need a little more information about why you are using m/c, what was your starting point, what have you used previously, what were the results. Can you describe the areas you are experiencing the laxity? Have you used RF, did this cause any tightening? Anymore background would really help to identify what is happening.
When you use the Tua Viso you were pleased with the results, if yes, why are you using m/c would would you like to improve?
thanks

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the replies. I got the Integra machine a long time ago (approx 15 yrs I think) and thought that because I couldn’t feel or see anything, it wasn’t effective. Bearing in mind that my skin/muscle tone would have been quite a bit younger then anyway, lol.
I also got a little hand held machine (again, a long time ago) that works in the same way the Tua Viso does, and this gave better results, more muscle tone in the cheeks. So when this thread on microcurrent came up, I thought I’d give the Integra another go, especially as this type of current is apparently better for muscles than EMS. I concentrated on the cheeks, jowl and jaw line and then noticed after a couple of uses the jowl area looked really lax. I also tried it on the 11’s between the brows, and it immediately softened these, - which looked a bit better, but again made the muscles too soft for my liking.
I’ve never tried RF as I’m worried it may dissolve fillers etc,
Thanks again,
Jackie xx |

Cardio and aerobic exercises are best to tighten sagging skin. Exercises help to build body muscles and burns fat too. Abdominal crunches, jogging, walking, sit-ups, yoga, etc., are mostly beneficial to tighten loose belly skin. Facial exercises are very effective to tighten saggy facial skin. The muscles in your face are attached to the skin above them. When they age and sag, so does your skin. You can combat this and keep your muscles healthy by means of facial exercises. |

My story....I am petite but back in 2007 I dieted to get to my ideal weight which was a ten pound weight loss and while my body looked great I had sudden sag to my face. That sag lead me to this forum....from here I started facial ex. LED lights and many more trial and error approaches. I finally landed with microcurrent in Feb. of 2012. I noticed lift and fullness coming back into my face after a series of treatments from a professional machine....so much so that I bought the machine. Within the last two months I have once again dieted off the dreaded 10 pounds that in 2007 created sag in my face....mind you I used the same diet and I am five years older...result?????I am at my ideal weight and my face is tighter than a tick!!! Seriously I am amazed and can attribute microcurrent to keeping my face in the best shape it has been in twenty years. I honestly thought in my 50's I would have to carry more weight to have my face looking full and lifted...folks I am thrilled to find that is no longer true....Microcurrent Rocks! |
Totally agree Toby.
