I've been using Retin-a Micro since October 31 all over my body for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, keratosis pilaris, etc.
The areas that are shedding skin is dark red/brown and dull. The crook of my right arm, however, is shiny and red.
Is this normal at all? I fear that it isn't normal. Should I exfoliate? Is the shedding causing this discoloration?
When will the shedding stop and my true skin color come through? |

Hi,
I'm unsure if retin-a is for use on the body, can someone else weigh in?
I think it should be normal, as I've experienced some reddish patches on my face when I've overdone it or used the wrong strength. It's inflamed skin. And it would make it much worse if you are using it on a body part that moves around alot.
I wouldn't recommend doing this, it sounds so painful--did a dermatologist recommend it?
Also, sorry for so many questions, but how is that even affordable? Retin-a micro is very expensive for a tiny tube.

I have used it on my neck and chest, I can't imagine covering my whole body with it.
I have no idea if that is a good plan. Maybe do one extra body part (leg, arm etc) per day and rotate? |

Sometimes it is worthwhile to ask a pharmacist - this advice is free and in many cases a pharmacist actually knows more about the parameters of drug use than a doctor. Or so my family doc says . . . |

I've read some people do that, too. I can't imagine this being a "bad idea". It's affordable because I use less than pea size for my entire body on each part.
So does this inflamed skin go away at some point? Do you think I should decrease the frequency (I apply it every night)? I'm using Retin-a Micro 0.1% |

.1 is the highest strength. Pull back frequency and/or strength. You're not supposed to irritate your skin. |
