Hi all,
I hope everyone is having a merry time in this holiday season.
I was wondering if anyone could help me with a little problem I have been having...I searched the internet and it seems like no one has been dumb enough like me to have such an accident.
Last night I was preparing for a Christmas party and in an effort to look polished, I used a depilatory to rid my face of unwanted facial hair. However, in my efforts to hurry along, I ended up using my body depilatory on my face instead. I didn't realize this until it was too late and my skin had a burning sensation to it. Even when taking off the lotion, my skin burned and now it looks all red and patchy, and the burned skin looks similar to those that get a chemical burn done!
I have always had good reactions with Aloe but when I apply it, it just leads to more stinging, but I feel like that is just my skin and not the aloe. Last night I made a yogurt and oatmeal paste with seemed to calm the itchiness and irritation.
I was just wondering if anyone has gone through this or if anyone has any advice or remedies for irritated skin. Any help would be appreciated, especially during this busy holiday season and with all the parties!
Thanks! |

Oh, sorry about your accident. I have not done that to myself yet but here's what I do when I need to calm my skin.
I make a really strong chamomile tea and while the tea is hot a put in it a little bit of oat flour. Once it cools down I put everything in a spray bottle, add a bit of aloe vera and a drop of jojoba oil. I keep this in the refrigerator and spray my face periodically during the day. The oat flour sometimes dries on the surface of my skin and leaves a bit of powder, but I really don't care about that because I like how this mixture makes my skin feel.
Good luck. |

I have actually burned my skin via using too strong of peeling products, producing very red, raw and irritated skin.
I would also purchase a product Jurlique's Calendula cream, which is very light, anti-inflmmatory and hydrating enough for red patchy and damaged skin. I have used this product many times and its a lovely gentle product. You could also use their sensitive skin cleansing milk on your face as well!!
I hope this helps, as it has helped my skin before! |

I did the same thing recently; fortunately my brother-in-law is a Harvard-grad dermatologist! He had me take prednisone (10 mg) by mouth for three days while applying triple antibiotic ointment (not cream...ointment!) to the area around my mouth that was swollen and chemically burned. No makeup until resolved, and no other cleaners or moisturizers! My burn was completely gone within three days, thankfully! |
