When you apply an AHA cream such as alpha hydrox souffle at night, is it absolutely necessary to apply a moisturizer for it to work? I have applied AHA but never apply moisturizer after it at night.
Could that be the reason my red marks aren't clearing? I know when you go outside and apply AHA, sunscreen is necessary but if you are inside and apply it at night, does not applying a moisturizer after AHA mean it won't work? |

Okay i read someone in a forum mentioned this.
Mixing it in a moisturizer dilutes it so that it's basically doing nothing, which is why it doesn't burn. Start slow. Use a small amount. If 10% is too much, you may want to find a lower percentage. If you are using it on active inflammed acne, this could be why it's stinging (you're putting acid on an open wound). You didn't state that, so not sure if that's the case.
Thats what i kind of thought too. So if i apply AHA and then wait 15 minute before applying the moisturizer... then would't mixing them mean there is no effect on my skin and thus the AHA is not effective anymore?
Thoughts? I dont know which is the right way |

You can apply moisturizer if your skin needs it but its not necessary for AHA to work.
When you saying mixing, people are talking about blending the 2 items together to apply, this buffers it. |
