Hello,
I am 34 yrs old and recently had baby number 2 (4 months ago) and I have noticed that my freckles got darker during this pregnancy, I suppose a mild case of Melasma. I am currently breastfeeding and I'm trying to figure out what my options are to lighten or get rid of this. My skin reacts well to Glycolic acids, I've done peels in the past as high as 40% from Platinum Skincare. I ran out and I"m trying to figure out what, if anything, I can use at the moment. I know, I should wait until after the breastfeeding is done. But, if peels are considered safe to use and not go into the bloodstream, then how would they enter breast milk? Anyway, I'm just trying to research my options because I'm not feeling very good about the way I look, Im working on my last 8lbs of baby weight, and I'd like to take care of my skin. Here's a pic of what I look like at the moment. Thanks!!

I think your skin looks wonderful. Smooth, creamy, and the freckles just add character. I don't see any signs of melasma in the photo.
However, I know those of us with freckles usually don't like them, so...glycolic is a usually a good choice. I like mandelic as well and it is fairly gentle. With the breast feeding, you may want to contact one of the peel vendors directly and see what they recommend. Makeup artists choice has been good in the past about responding to questions.
Congrats on baby #2. |

You really do look beautiful.
My freckles lightened amazingly with the Lightstim device but a few of them darkened before going away.
I don't really think you need to do anything though.
Quick and less expensive ideas. Cucumber w/powdered milk and an egg white mixed in a blender. Should be really watery. Put on every night before sleeping. Put moisturizer or whatever you would normally use on top.
Store in fridge.
This has worked well for me. . |

Sorry I haven't replied sooner, I have a 2.5 yr old and I'm nursing a 4 month old... So my days and nights kind of run together.
Thanks ladies, I wasn't expecting this reaction to my freckles, lol. I've always had them, but they've never been this noticeable, with this last pregnancy they really popped out.My mother was the first one who made me self conscious by telling me that I needed to do something about my skin.
I always wear sunblock and protect myself, but it hasn't mattered. I did try to tan a lot in high school....so I suppose now I'm paying the price.
Thanks Queenpedauque for your suggestions, I will give that a try. |

Also, thank you for the suggestions. I know it's really annoying when someone comes on asking for questions that could probably be found with a bit of digging. But, since having had baby #2, I haven't had the time that I used to, to read. Adjusting to two children has been tough. Thanks again! |

I've got nothing, no suggestions, but I did just have to post and tell you that if the lower half of your face is any indication of what the rest looks like, nobody is looking at that gorgeous face and thinking "freckles." |

Hello lola I think you look beautiful even with freckles! I would not worry much about it because your skin is beautiful as it is... However, if you are worried about it, you can camouflage with a light mineral foundation when going out.... You can also try Murad Intensive-C Radiance Peel. It is a light peel with vitamin C and has a slight tingling effect on the skin. It feels silky on the skin and it is very light...I know you can take 40% peel but I would not suggest that... Gradual peeling (in my opinion) is better than "harsh" or stronger peels... You can also incorporate Vitamin C serum in your skin-care regimen for long term maintenance of your skin for now..... And as always sunscreen of at least SPF30 is very important to protect the skin from further damage... |
