Hi,
I have always had a crooked smile, and was wondering if there were exercises to help build muscle to even out my smile? Thanks.

When you say "crooked smile" what exactly do you mean? Is it because of your teeth/jaw alignment, or a face pose you do often?

I think facial exercises can help for sure, but I dont know what you mean by crooked to be able to give you a definite yes/no.

Its the way my muscles are. On the right side of my face my muscles tend to be more relaxed, thus making my smile to appear crooked. I guess you can say it has to do with my upper lip.

Oh well maybe you need to consider massage first and foremost before facial exercises. If its only on one side of your face too, it might be how you sleep (are you sleeping pressing that side of face into pillow?). I think massage may be better, and we'vejust had a great one posted recently by ATester that might be worthwhile trying out and is free too!

Now with you saying it has to be upperlip, it may not be the lip itself as that’s a circular muscle. There’s a particular funny name they say for it, that I can’t remember, but basically if its one side of your face I wonder if you are tensing moreso on one side of face than the other that’s creating different looks rather than it being a problem with muscles.

I think I have the same problem, and I believe it's really because you got too used to that particular smile.

Unless of course, it's a feature in your family: like everyone smiles the same way because of facial structure.

Anyhoo...I think what you really need more, whichever the case, is too practice the smile that you want to achieve.

Look into the mirror and start paying attention to which muscles you use for smiling. Then adjust your smile, while still facing the mirror. Then with practice, you might get the smile you're looking for.

Hope this helps. Smile
