Hi everyone,
I just had my 2nd IPL treatment today for acne and the girl told me that IPL is also good for spider veins......before I try it and waste my money can anyone chime in on if this works or not?
I don't have varicose veins, just bluish spider veins and would love to get rid of them.
I also have two birthmarks that aren't very dark but in the summer they get pretty dark when I tan and I'd like to get rid of those.......will IPL work for that?
Thanks!

Having had as many IPL's as I have hoping that it would take care of the deeper veins and caps, I must say the only thing that has worked for those is the Yag laser and now the full face Cutera Excel V.
Much deeper penetration is needed to get those tough ones. My hubby had the yag on several larger blue veins on his nose that were prominent and it took care of them.
You might ask her if it doesn't work will she do a touchup and see what she says.

Talked to Amber at Westlake Dermatology when I went for my touchup for the Excel V Laser. For birthmarks, the IPL is not the laser for that, but the Excel V does work for it. You may need more than one treatment depending on how deep/dark that it is.

Are the veins on your face? I used to have little red veins on my face and I got rid of them with the VersaPulse laser (not IPL...it's called 'facial vein removal'). It worked amazing! But it worked by targeting the veins beneath the skin and collapsing them. So i'm not sure if an IPL would work for this, but then again if you're talking about veins on your legs I can't help ya haha.

IPL will definitely help with broken capillaries on the face i.e. around the nose. Again, I have to emphasize that nothing that I've ever used is a permanent solution. There is always maintenance treatments to contend with.

I am very interested in IPL treatment too but for treating hyperpigmentation issue on my skin of color (Fitzpatrick III-IV).

Has anyone here used IPL for this purpose? Please share your experience, thanks.
