I would like to have either a peel or microdermabrasion and wonder which will give the best results? I have nice skin but I would like to brighten it (think Jennifer Aniston glow) and help with anti-aging. My main concern is downtime.. I don't have any time to be down.
I have used Glycolic Acid in the am and Retin-A Micro in the evening for 15 years (I'm 43) other than when I was expecting and nursing. I have had great results but feel I need a little more to help with anti-aging in the future. I'm beginning to notice crows feet, nasalob. fold lines, etc.
I will have Sculpta injected next week (a little nervous) so I want to be careful not to do too much.
Thank you for any advice. |

If you already have your sculptra apt, I would do nothing this week. Go to your appointment and ask them what the spacing should be after getting fillers. I think 2 weeks is normally suggested.
Microderm is no downtime and there are so many peels out there.....some have downtime and some are "lunchtime" AKA no downtime peels. |

As a master esthetician I have to admit that I'm not a fan of microdermabrasion. At first the skin looks like it has a "glow" but that's from the immediate injury to the skin. I have read recent studies that the abrasiveness of microdermabrasion destroys collagen. Depending on the peel and how well you exfoliate you might not experience any downtime. A lactic/kojic combination is a great lunch time peel. I personally am really into ultrasonic facials. It uses water oscillation to deeply exfoliate with zero downtime or irritation. It also has the ability to help serums penetrate deeper into the skin. Good luck. |

I prefer a light AHA peel say 5-10% on a weekly basis just to freshen up my skin.... |

Thank you for the replies. I have an appt with an excellent aesthetician on the 19th. We will discuss my skin and decide which is the best. There are too many choices... |
