Everytime I try to use BHA I get a breakout. Not a bad one but 3 or 4 small pimples with white head.
I have tried PC (2% BHA) and now pro-derm (8% AHA 2% BHA). I usualy give up after 3 to 4 weeks. Should I try longer than that ?
I don't get breakouts if I don't use BHA or very rarely. AHA alone does not make me breakout.
The funy thing is, the breakouts are on my checks, where I do not have any black heads.
Any idea why I get the breakouts on the parts of my face that seems the most healthy ?

Ya - I find my skin is sensitive to BHAs too - I stick with glycolic acids or sometimes lactic acid peels. |

What do you use for lactic acid peels and what % is it ?
I'm a bit affraid of the lactic acid peels, I believed they should be done by a professionnel or at less a beauticien.
Does lactic acid dissolve the dirt within the skin pors as BHA does ?

Hi,
Once in awhile I do a course of 40% lactic acid peels - I do the peel once a week for about a month or so. The peel I have is from skin laboratory, but makeup artists' choice also makes them.
I find the peels are actually very gentle on my skin - I leave the peel on for about 4 minutes or so and rinse off. I actually don't notice any visible peeling - just improved skin over the course of the month that I do the peels. I'd say they are definitely worth a try.
I don't really have issues with acne, so can't say much about dissolving dirt within the pores. For me I end up with smoother skin, less visible pores, and improved hyperpigmentation (which I'm prone to). |
