Hi everyone,
I´ve been a lurker here for some many years and learned a bunch from all of you, thanks so much.
I´m in my mid 40s and have been using Retin A in different strenghts for a little more than 5 years.
The road has been bumpy, but it has def. paid of as my wrinkles has been reduced significantly and the texture of my skin has become so much better.

my routine consists of
morning
splash of water followed by nivea Aqua sensation normal to mixed skin or Boots soltan face spf 50 or Biore Uv Aqua Rich Spf depending if I´m going outside or do sports.

Evening
cleansing with cetaphil gentle skin cleanser
wait for 30 min. and apply Retin A 0.05 or 0.025 deping on my skin.

I´ve been doing this routine daily for the last 5 years and wanted to ask if it makes sense to continue Retin A on a daily base or ad a peptide, vitamin c or something else a few days a week ?

I have very fair and sensitive skin, so would need to move slowly forward.

Thanks so much in advance. I´m grateful of any comments

Smile

I had the impression that it wasn't necessary to use retin-A every night after the first year. I alternate with vitamin c and cp's now.

Actually, I've ended up doing tretinoin every 3 nights or so, and vitamin c & ghk on the off nights, or often in the morning instead (when I've been too lazy at night). I've stopped layering entirely, except for sunscreen, of course.

I believe my skin is way better off with the short rest in between applications of all these.

I'm surprised that you can insist on one kind of products for so long time.I have no idea about your question.Wish somebody can answer it.

Hi Lori.
thanks for the advice, I´ve being thinking of adding vit. C and copper peptides , but but would really happy for some advice as I have sensitive skin and also how to include them in my routine.
Mayby retin a every other night, and copper peptides the other nights. And vitamin C in the morning ?
Also, considering having sensitive skin, which products would be best ?
thanks alot in advance

I'm no expert, so all I can recommend is that you go slow and don't incorporate multiple products all at the same time.

Start with vitamin c a couple of times a week and see how you do. I'd start off with a low strength, for sure.
There are different schools of thought about whether to use it at night or in the morning.

Same with cp's. Some people don't react well to them.
You may want to read up on cp's... there's a lot to learn about how they work and what they do. There are huge threads here on eds which you may want to skim for different experiences and opinions. Its the best way to garner knowledge about any of these things so you can make informed decisions.

I think you might benefit from using an exfoliator and antioxidant serum.
I like the Paula's choice range of AHAs and BHAs and serums.

I would add a Vit C serum for sensitive skin. For example:

http://www.essentialdayspa.com/cellex-c-serum-for-sensit-p_351.htm

http://www.myfawnie.bigcartel.com/product/stable-c-serum-with-aa-2g-and-phloretin

http://www.essentialdayspa.com/vivier-serum-10-p_673.htm

http://www.forever-young-uk.co.uk/30ml-10-vitamin-c-serum-25-p.asp (

Do not bother with Paula's Choice Anti-oxidant serums, they are useless, in my opinion. The % of actives are too low to make any visible effect on a skin. I would recommend a Lifeline Serum if money is not a big issue.

Thanks everyone,
really appreciated. I did quite a bit of reding up on the copper peptides, and decieded to leave it for now and ordered the Skinceuticals C E ferulic and will try to start out slowly with a couple of times a week in the morning. Do I have to apply on damp or dry skin and how long after can I apply sunscreen ? Also would it make sense to decrease my use of Retin a from every night (+5 years with great results) to every other night and then something else on the alternate days ?
Thankd a lot Smile
