I always read the EDS forums when I am looking for skin care answers and solutions even though I just created this account. I know here is the best place to ask my question. I am aware that vitamin c turns orange, yellow or brown when oxidized. But, does it mean that my vitamin c is oxidized if it turned brown after being mixed with grapeseed oil and green clay? I used these 3 ingredients as a mask just a few minutes ago. My ascorbic acid powder is not that old and I've made serums with it that didn't turn a funny color right away. But, after about 10 minutes on my face I looked in the mirror and noticed my mask had turned a brownish color instead of the green that my clay mask mixtures would usually look. Is this normal? Does it mean that my ascorbic acid is oxidized? It started to have a metallic smell after those 10 minutes on my face as well. Any answers would be greatly appreciated! I don't want to keep using it if it isn't good for my skin, but I don't want all my ascorbic acid to go to waste either.

I suppose the color change could have happened as the mask dried, but it's a bit weird it went from green to brown.

It usually takes longer than that for ascorbic acid to oxidize. Was it old?

No, it it's not old and it hasn't reached the expiry date yet. And the mask I made I had just made in the palm of my hand right before using it. I really wish I could know for sure whether my ascorbic acid has oxidized.
