Went for my annual gyn checkup and noticed my doc's skin looked great. She is in her 60s and an avid outdoor person. She said she uses estriol cream from a compounding pharmacy and wrote me a scrip. $60 for 60g.
I have been using SkinBiology CPs in A.M. and their LacSal (Lactic Acid/Salicylic Acid) in P.M. When should I use the estriol cream? |

| Based on all I've read in Ray Peat's writings, I would not take estrogen. |

| I don't know who Ray Peat is but there are considerable health risks to using this,such as heart disease,blood clots and breast and uterine cancer.Most doctors advise you to use it short term for relief of menopausal symptoms,not to make your skin plump.I,too,understand wanting to look your best,but I would not do it at the risk of my health.I am not trying to be judgemental;these are serious health issues.I suffered a blood clot while on estrogen BC pills years ago and almost died.Please do some research.And I'm sorry,but I would also find a new OB/GYN. |

The estriol cream has fewer side effects than pills. I can't recall where I saw it, but do remember a study indicating that the impact of the cream was more localized than pills and did not enter the blood stream sufficiently to have the same side effects.
I do not use estriol cream, but I know some other EDS members have in the past. This may help:

Thanks for the reminder, I have some I need to use. I have used it several times in the past on the face but I am prescribed for it. It is a waste on the thighs!  |

Not true. Birth control pills use synthetic hormones. Estriol is bioidentical estrogen. I asked her if I would have to change my estrogen prescription (Minivelle estrogen patch) and she said this cream has no effect systemically if put on the face. My doctor specializes in menopause and is well versed on the latest research on hormones. The only harm will be to my credit card.
You might want to get another doctor though. |
