I have a question that unfortunately I have found no answer anywhere...

I am using oils as moisturizer, maybe coconut mixed with extra virgin olive oil, some vitamin e, and jojoba.

Since I am using Retin A the oils work wonders! No drying whatsoever!

Now I have a question with using Sunscreen.

Whether the sunscreen is physical, or chemical...does it ALWAYS GO ON TOP OF THE OILS?

Someone told me that I should put oils last as they create a film on skin, they seal the skin.

However, if I am using only titanim and zinc oxide...I believe the sunscreen has to be last, over the oils.

Very confusing! Please someone help.

On the other hand, if the sunscreen is in a form of a moisturizer..and its also chemical...it has to interact with your skin to work...so if I use oils than I have to use oils last..

I am worried as I am using Retin a and I have to really be careful with the sun especially with using these oils which I am loving so much.

I believe that physical sunscreen (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) can go on last as they create a physical block which reflects sunlight. Chemical sunscreens wold go on first as they need to absorb into the skin in order to be effective.

Bell, sunscreen is ALWAYS the last thing you put on your face before makeup. I would skip your oil moisturizer; that would be too greasy feeling.

It looks like the forum is causing the posts to look strange. Hopefully you can read this after I hit submit.

Chemical=apply first
Physical=apply last

If you have a sunscreen or moisturizer that uses both chemical and physical, You would have to apply it first so the chemical actives could absorb properly. Putting anything on top of it might make the physical blockers move about, but there's nothing you can do about that. :P

I think it's smartest to just use a physical sunscreen so you don't have to worry about it being thinned out by your serum or moisturizer like chemical blockers can. Plus a physical sunscreen with a stronger white cast can be tinted to double as make up.

Ive found that my Invisible Zinc didn't quite work as well as it should have on my last holiday (Disneyland, Florida lots of sun) we came back browner!! Not what I wanted.

So I am going to have a double attack. European Chemical sunscreen underneath then the Physical( Badger Baby with whatever I have left of the Invisible Zinc)
I am going to use, La Roche Posay,and Garnier (baby) for sensitive skins.

Hope this will work. Oh for my face I will have a combo of, Uriage Barisun,or Loreal perfect spf50 under my Suntegrity tinted sunscreen.

Quite mad I know but I am determined we will NOT be brown this time ( going to Spain, and I know the sun will be hot!!)
