Hello all Smile I was wondering if epsom salt can be used as an alternative for aluminum oxide crystals (microdermabrasion crystals)? The reason I ask is because I'm currently on a budget & can't afford the amount of aluminum oxide crystals that I want to purchase.I've used almuminum oxide crystals before in a mixture I made & it did wonders for my legs, knees, elbows & arms.

If anyone could list any other products that can be used as an alternative for microdermabrasion crystals please feel free to list.

I think aluminum oxide works so well because the crystals have a specific shape. Epsom salt doesn't have the same structure so it won't be as effective, but it makes a good exfoliant.

Are you using this in a machine or a product?

No machine,I was just going to make a mixture with water & Jergens lotion. This mixture makes a thick paste-like substance & I would just rub it on a certain area of my skin for about 5 minutes(adding water when necessary so it would remain easy to spread).I did this for some weeks with aluminum oxide crystals & absolutely loved the results.

& I had a feeling that Epsom salt would be a major downgrade from aluminum oxide crystals...it wouldn't hurt for me to try the Epsom salt though since it's so cheap!

I would NOT try it on the face but try it on the feet and if it works, it works. If it doesn't, pour the salt in your bathtub and take a bath!
