I'm an 18 year old guy with red and some pitted acne scars. I'm using a .3mm dermaroller. I sort of don't really know how many times I'm rolling it. I go for like 5 minutes straight rolling. The first few times I did it, my skin became really radiant afterward for like a day (and it still does for about a day) and looks good. Then, this reddish/bumpy rash-like irritation thing formed around the skin by my nose/mouth.
I was thinking it was probably because I used retin A right after one time. however, It's still happening when I don't use that retin A.
I'm using something called Dermaquest Stem Cell Complex (given to me buy a skin specialist who I saw for the first time and totally ripped me off). I only use the day I dermaroll. In addition, my scars have seen no improvement and possibly even gotten worse.
I'm thinking it's time to get that infaladon thing Sarah on owndoc recommends.
I use a moisturizer as well from Trader Joes (facial antioxidant moisturizer, says oil free, but it does have vitamin A in it, so not sure if that is like retin A or what)
I'm wondering what I can do to calm down this irritation thing. It's been like 4-5 days already and it's still there.
I also use a little IS clinical active serum on my nose to try and get reduce the nose pores (not really sure what it's supposed to do, maybe i'm harming my skin with it).
I'm gonna try some apple cider vinegar and witch hazel toner to see if it reduces the irritation.
I also have epiduo and clindamycin phosphate gel. |

.3mm or 3mm (I'm asking for clarification because I've never seen .3mm- only .25 and .5- or 3mm, which is meant for the deepest of scars and stretch marks only) and how often are you rolling? The day you roll, especially after you roll, it's best not to use anything irritating. I can't give you better advice until I'm clear how deep your needles are (which is my fault, not yours, I don't want to give bad advice). The Infadolan could help but only use the night you roll, otherwise it can cause acne. I do use it after I roll, however. |

I just read your other post and saw that it is indeed .3mm and that you're doing it a few times a week. I also read that you were having problems with your nose and thinking it might be Rosacea. If I were you, I would stop using the dermaroller and anything else harsh (topicals, etc)- for now. Stick to a gentle cleanser and moisturizer, preferably one that helps build your skin's natural barrier, like CeraVe or Nia 24. Your skin is obviously having a bad reaction *to something* and telling you to stop. Just try being gentle with it for a month, I find that the times I "lay off" my skincare regime are the times my skin most improves. It needs time to "breathe" and to let those topicals and actives WORK, instead of constantly being attacked, if that makes sense? |

Hi thanks for responding elise!
I actually started using this stuff because I noticed I was getting reddish and mild rosacea like appearance about my nose
before I was just using a tea tree oil face wash pretty much
and that was it
it's so weird, there were times when my skin became fantastic over the past 6 months (reduced pore size, a normal skin texture and color to my nose) and I wasn't really doing anything different that I can remember
well, now I'm using a little makeup on my nose daily from my mom
shiseido liquid foundation, sometimes bb cream or cover up
i want to get to the root cause
i'm thinking it could be maybe diet related (i'm into bodybuilding/fitness, so I'm conscious of what I eat and how much (8% bodyfat))
I also notice when I go on long fasts made up of mostly water, caffeine, and some chicken and stuff, my skin becomes a lot better
also, the demodex mites thing is interesting to me
I just find it so weird how most people have good skin my age. Not many people have acne, most have small/nonexistent pores, no acne scars, and just good skin quality. These people don't even pay attention to their skin or diet, either.
Sigh |

I posted a response on your other thread...it may be the tea tree oil. |
