Hey all,
I just gave birth almost 4 months ago and my skin is a mess! I've had terrible acne for the past 4 years, which actually cleared with pregnancy, but is back . I've also had melasma for almost 10 years now, which is much worse after my pregnancy (not surprised). Anyone want to recommend products or help with my routine?
Since I'm prone to breakouts, I have a simple routine- Paula's Choice skin balancing cleanser, Paula's Choice 2% BHA, and Emu oil as moisturizer when I remember. During the day I use NCN skincares physical sunscreen when headed outside. I also use the NCN pumpkin mask. I really like all the products, but I guess they aren't working because my skin is terrible...
What's everyone using these days for melasma and acne? I haven't read much in over a year because of the pregnancy.
Thanks all! |

If you're breastfeeding, I suggest you consult a dermatologist before you consider any medications. Otherwise, try Duac and differin treatment. The result isn't overnight, but you will see the difference within a a few weeks. It will combat your acne and will prevent future ones to pop out. As for your melasma, i spot treat them with 20% glycolic acid. It works for me. |

I think the cause of melasma is because endocrine disorders, so just use the product is not enough. I suggest you take a physical conditioning. |

Congratulations on your new little one!
For melasma, silymarin in a topical product has been shown to help, but check with your Dr if youre breastfeeding as OP says:

Wearing sunscreen is crucial of course.
I agree: consulting with your OB/GYN about hormone modulation would be the first step. |
