This dress makes me wish I still worked in an office:

Link

I love the Stop Staring line of retro dresses. They're like Lindy Bop dresses only cuter and about three times the price (unfortunately).

If I bought the above dress it would hang in my closet unless someone died or got married. I live in Oregon, and few people wear dress up clothes here.

I need to move back East!

I dont like it. Also black is a no no if you want your chakras activated. If anyone waits for someone to die to wear this ,then i have to say that.

Well, since you won't be wearing it, it's all good. I must say that I find the chakra nonsense just that - nonsense. Since we're being honest...

Ignore him, Imma. I'm sure all he wears is undyed hemp and cotton since most dyes contain poisons and putting the wrong color (let alone black) over a chakra could affect them in that, way, too.

It's a beautiful dress. I meant to post earlier and got called away from computer.

I see it with a nice pair of pointy black stillettos, though. Kind of a slinky librarian look, which I definitely go for. Very Happy

Great website, too. Thanks for the link.

You might like Bettie Page - about the same price range for swing stuff, and excellent customer service. I got my order in one day (to Canada) and the helpful chat with the order clerk ensured a PERFECT fit. I got the Alika circle dress. Very nice, and it has a shaped waist that goes slightly down in the back. Can hardly wait to take it out dancing!

Yep, I am familiar with Betty! I like that label too. I also like Hell Bunny and Lindy Bop.

I tend to wear black all the time, it suits my face and dark colouring of me, and so this post really annoys me. “If anyone waits for someone to die to wear this”. Where do you get off Panoslydios. For a while now I’ve been tolerating your posts, but this is getting ridiculous nad is nothing but scare mongering.

Where does it say wearing black will encourage people to die? Even the folk that I know who are into chakras never say that about a colour. They have believes that certain chakras are stimulated by colours, like 1st red, 2nd yellow, but that’s about it. No where that I’m aware of do they ever tell anyone such horrible things, nor would they.

All hearsay and just your personal opinion, but please keep in mind that its just that – your personal opinion. Unless you have facts behind it (then please share) otherwise if you haven’t got anything nice to say – then please don’t say anything at all!

Sigh...okay, I'll reply to the silliness.

I said that it would hang in my closet until someone died or got married. Did you not understand that I meant that I have no place to wear a fancy dress, unless it's a wedding or a funeral?

You can believe what you want with the chakra nonsense and what not, but would you mind not hijacking my thread?

And on the subject of black clothing - when I wear tight black jeans, black boots and a black jacket, nobody who looks at me is thinking about dying. They're thinking - damn, I wish I could wear that...

Black is chaos.
Black is NOT LIFE.Most of fruits arent black. They turn black when they die aka they miss their life energy.

I suggest all people go at weddings and funerals in WHITE because white represents the LIFE FORCE COLOUR which we need in both times.

DRESS COLOURFULL CAUSE LIFE IS COLOURFULL.
When i was in dark moments i was hiding in my home aka no sun /light/life energy and choose black colours for clothes.

Ego doesnt leave yourself to find your inner light.Learn to loveyourself and others and not compete with them .

I have an idea - why don't you find a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with chakras or energy or new age hoohah and take it over? Doesn't that sound like fun? Oh, wait...

I look beautiful in black. Black is powerful. You're probably jealous because you don't wear it well.

on edit - I wonder if you've noticed that this is a skin care and makeup forum? It's all about ego, you poor thing.

Wow, what an amazing dress! I love the Flapper dresses too...must hide my credit card! Smile

Oh, and BTW, I am Wiccan (New Age) and we do not have anything against wearing black even if we do Chakra work.

Thanks for posting! I now bookmarked the store. Smile

WhiteWolf, sorry for the "new age hoohah" crack. I am normally not intolerant and keep my mouth shut if I don't agree with others' beliefs, but I felt as if I was being attacked by a troll. Still no excuse and I hope you accept my apology.

Just as the fundie, crazy Christians don't speak for all Christians, panwhomever does not speak for all New Age believers.

Although - I wouldn't consider Wicca "New Age". More like "Ancient Age", no?

Very nice!

I wear black all day, 5 days a week for work. I love not having to think about what color to wear.

I have some new (black) heels that would be great with that! Too bad I never go out either!!

I am wearing black right now. With onyx jewelry for good measure. Laughing

To be fair to panos, I think he is just kind of young. Still at the age where a good idea is truth, and where you can recommend things to people like an expert, just because you've read up on the subject, even though you've never tried it.

My take. Could be wrong. But IMHO some tolerance is called for.

Yes, tolerance. Here's what I do: after a while you know that certain names are bound to irritate one's sensibilities. So just don't read that post - yes, you may miss something, but one has already formed an opinion about the probable value/irritation factor of such a post. A passive edit is kind to both parties, publicly nonjudgemental and almost always soothing to the soul.

Wow - I was looking at some of the wedding dresses - be still my heart! Of course even if I were to find another victim, I don't think white would be appropriate for #3....not to mention I don't want to get married! But those dresses!!!!!

Here are my faves:

And this one - not a white wedding dress, but it brings a lump to my throat, it's so gorgeous:

This is most likely the opinion of a GUY.
I don't think you should listen to guys when it comes to clothing....LOL!

The dress is cute, but for me I like stuff w some sleeves (well I could always put a cardigan or something over it?).

Is there any clubs near you that do Lindy hop or swing dance classes?

A lot of people I know go to "Saturday night swing" and different events here where you pay $5 for the night of dancing and a 1 hour lesson.

Also I took a burlesque class and quite a few people there liked the 50's style.

I know the girl who taught my class "Koston Creme" she loves those kinds of clothes and wears them every day....

No, nothing like that here - I'm in Salem, Oregon. I know there are dance clubs and classes in Portland, but none that I know of here. It would be fun to take a swing dance class! I don't know who I could bully into being my partner though - the guys I know are not into dancing!

Not much dancing here - people here like hiking, biking, skiing, that kind of thing. There are clubs, but not many dance clubs, at least not in Salem.
