I have some freckles on one side of my face (okay, they are probably like baby age spots), and I want to fade them.
Any suggestions? Should I use vitamin c? Seems like the safest and most affordable ingredient. I'd rather go slow and gentle rather than quick and invasive.

Thanks!

Yes! The combination of AA2G + ethyl ascorbic acid + silymarin is fading mine!

Sunscreen of course, and actually sun avoidance if I can.

Exfoliation.

Ultrasound or dermaneedling to drive the actives in.

Hormones can play a big role too - birth control pills did a number on my skin which I am still undoing.

<edit> actually OSEA Boost has MAP in it (vitamin C) so that and APC and sunscreen might help you.

Thanks, Fawnie!
I have one of those PMDs but it always does a number on my skin, I'll probably never get the hang of it.
What is AA2G, forgive me for being so ignorant? And is there an OSEA product I don't know about? You know I'm all about the APC and its MAP--I'm sure the brown spots would be much worse if I didn't use it so religiously. They have been there since I was in my 20s, just really faint. I use SS religiously, promise!
I was just in Greece and wore my Burnout and a hat every day. Still got a little sun from my extended swimming jaunts, though--hence those little spots are darker than usual, and I want to fade them.

OSEA Sea Vitamin Boost:

Aqua, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Extract*, Gigartina Skottsbergii Extract*, Wine Exract, Rubia Tinctorum (Madder) Root Extract, Montmorillonite (Trace Minerals), Allantoin, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Glycerin, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Lonicera Japanica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract
*CERTIFIED ORGANIC INGREDIENT

http://www.oseamalibu.com/product_p/svb-t.htm

MAP is good for lightening!

AA2G is a stabilized form of ascorbic acid that doesnt rape the skin with the acidic pH of L-ascorbic acid. Ethyl ascorbic acid is another form of ascorbic acid that lightens. Together they are BOMB. Silymarin is an ingredient that fades melasma and protects against UV.

fawnie,

Why did you choose silymarin specifically?

Its photoprotective and reparative and fades melasma, but its a bugger to work with. Mad

Thank you fawnie. I think I'll give it a try. I enjoyed looking through your site and the "Holy Grail" product sounds interesting too! It's obvious you are working toward a well thought out line of skin care.

I bought some liquid corn and callous remover and have used it on the spots on the back of my hands and it works! Cheaper than a laser.

I have started using it on some bigger spots on my lower legs. It takes a while for the dead skin to fall off but do NOT peel it off or you will be left with red spots and later have to do the area over. I did retreat a couple of spots later. Still, it's dead cheap!

Have a Qtip handy when you dab with the application tip in case you get a big drip. You want to dab it up immediately so as not to damage healthy skin.

I will try it next on a spot on my cheekbone.

Turmeric with yoghurt and honey and a drop fresh lemon juice is an ideal face mask for fading acne marks. Sandalwood powder is also very good indeed.

Its a bit of a mess, a bit time consuming, but its natural, very inexpensive, and powerful. Best effects if you put the time in for a daily face mask for fading.

I drink green tea each day, and rub a used teabag over my face, also! The anti inflammatory effects are great..reduces redness, I find.

I use jojoba oil for slip, because apparently it is the most compatible oil for facial skin. You can just mix turmeric into jojoba, in the palm of your hand.

Turmeric makes stuff yellow..have to rinse well..you know it is anti inflammatory so great to take internally, too.

I had a number of nose freckles from a bad burn in my youth. Faded them successfully, more or less, with a 10% Obagi Vitamin C serum. This was a japan-only obagi version, but I am sure other lines are pretty much as effective.
