Hi ladies
I am slowly introducing new products into my skin routine. My skin is already looking much better, however I now want to add a new day time moisturiser into my routine.
I use my Vit C serum (CSS) during the day followed by Estee Lauder Day wear SPF 50 which is effective but greasy
I want to try the skin actives kit moisturiser for the winter, to which I am planning to add the following actives:
1. Vit A (as Retinyl Palmitate)
2. Vit B3
3. COQ10
4. Liquorice
5. Green tea extract.
I have read on the forum however that B3 and Vit C can cancel each other out and that Vit A is photo sensitive so not suitable for day time use.
So my plan is to make up two versions of the kit moisturiser as follows:
Day: COQ10, Liquorice and Green tea extract
Night: Vit A, Vit B3, COQ10, Liquorice and Green tea extract.
EDIT: FYI, I also use a 10% glycolic acid moisturiser at night 3-5x a week.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated |

Vitamin C + vitamin B3 (panthenol) are wonderful together. You might have read that "canceling each other out" bit regarding vit C + copper peptides. In any event they don't "cancel each other out", but much worse, when acid is exposed to metal ions it becomes pro-oxidant, and generates free radicals.
Vitamin A is neutralized by UV rays, so definitely should be used at night. |

Actually vitamin B3 is niacinamide as Im sure you know. It needs pH of 4-6 and LAA needs pH of <3.5 for penetration, but there are other forms of ascorbic acid that can work at pH 4-6.
And, as Kassy says, d-panthenol (vit B5) plays well with ascorbic acid.
Some ppl on Dr Pickart's website *do* use copper peptides + LAA together and I think he has amended his recommendation now to say that, "Hey-ho, if it works for you ..." |

Thanks to Kassy and Fawnie.
Good to know there are no conflicting actives.
I have also now had to add B5 to the mix lol
DIY is making me into a mad scientist |
