Hello,

I just noticed I have a few small brown spots under my eyes.
They kind of look like the spots that can come up after being in the sun for too long.
I have no idea when they appeared, I just noticed them today Confused

Any idea what the cause is for them to show up?
I have started using Cellular Skin RX Eye Bright under my eyes to get rid of dark circles, could that be the cause or is it unlikely?

Please Help!

Hi Aga
I do not think Cellular's Eye Bright causes the brown spots. It is suppose to lighten the area. However, I do believe the lightening may actually also cause the area to be more sun-sensitive and you have to apply sun protection over the sensitive area dutifully. Otherwise sun spots will appear.

Hello Jenny Smile

I use an SPF15 so hopefully I am in the clear and no more brown spots will come up.

The additional sun sensitivity was my first thought too. I guess I'd use a higher SPF than 15 for this situation.

I had begun to see some very small spots under my eyes.... more like freckles than age spots. When I began using a lotion with Vitamin C, they seemed to disappear. But, even still, using any product that lightens, I would definitely use a sunscreen daily. I'd use 15 just for everyday if I weren't using any lightening agents in that area, but would use a stronger SPF because of the lightening agents.

Thanks for the advice Judy Smile

So the Eye Bright isnt causing this for sure?

What sunscreens are there that would be higher than SPF 15?
I was looking for some but I didnt find any.

Hi Aga
Do check out Skinceuticals' range. I use it's Ultimate UV SPF 30 - the texture is great and the best thing is it does not leave your face streaky (which some sunscreen does). Not too expensive too. A tube lasts me for at least 4 months.

Cheers

Jenny, is it ok to put sunscreen around the eye? The normal sunscreen is ok? or it has to be especially for the eye area?

You may want to try a vit C serum under your eyes. It can help protect from furter damage and help fade those spots.

Christine

I have no problem putting Skinceuticals' Ultimate around my eye area.
If you are worried, I think Murad has an eye cream with SPF.

Vit C will lighten existing brown spots. However, to prevent new spots from appearing, you need sunscreen.
