Lytera, by SkinMedica "is a novel, non-prescription, non-hydroquinone skin brightening product that minimizes the appearance of skin discoloration and dark spots." This is according to the web site.

My laser clinic sells it and it's pricey but supposed to be effective for skin discoloration.
I'm thinking of trying but wanted to see if anyone has used it. Thanks! |

There are one mentions on other threads as well if you use the search feature at the top of the page.
FYI that I did not stick with this since I didn't see any noticeable results after a few weeks, but YMMV. |

Thanks for letting me know. I did a search on the product before posting but nothing came up. |

Just enter the word Lytera in the top box and hit Search....I got 28 matches. But if you used the full name in your title, you probably got nothing. |

I posted my experience with Lytera in the thread that Bethany mentioned above. My results have been very favorable and visible. My skin seems to react very positively to niacinamide and myristyl nicotinate in general, and Lytera includes an impressive array of helpful ingredients and they are not buried at the bottom of the list. I've been using since February or March of this year and plan to continue indefinitely.
To summarize my results: melasma on lower cheeks and forehead (which I've been fighting since beginning hormone therapy in 2005) is significantly decreased. Rosacea on upper cheeks and décolleté is improved. Overall improvement in skin tone and texture. My skin is also less reactive and I don't think I've had more than 1 minor breakout in 9 months. Personally, I love the smell, but this would not work for some. Skin tone is my #1 skincare issue, and I've used a lot of prescription and OTC products to combat it. Lytera has been more effective than all others for me. I only use once per day. |

THANK YOU SO MUCH for this very helpful information. It's great to hear about your results. I think I will give it a try. I've also heard the scent is really nice in this product...and that it goes on well. |

You are very welcome! I should mention that I've never paid full price. I can usually get 20-25% off with promo codes at lovelyskin.com, skinthology.com, essentialdermcare.com, etc. if you try it! I hope it works out as well as it has for me! |

I thought I might post the rest of my current regimen, as I think I'm benefitting from several products in addition to Lytera at the moment. I don't usually wait between any of these steps. I won't substitute anything for Lytera, but all other products are negotiable. My skin is combo leaning oily. Very few lines, no wrinkles, which I think is mostly a result of genetics. I'm 44.
Morning
1. Wipe my face and décolleté with a warm, wet wash cloth. If I feel I need more than that, I spread CeraVe hydrating cleanser on my face first, then wipe with the warm, wet washcloth.
2. SkinMedica Vitamin C & E complex or Paula's Choice Skin Balancing moisture gel.
3. PC 2% BHA liquid on décolleté only.
4. Mineral sunscreen with antioxidants --Currently PC Resist Cellular Repair SPF 25.
5. Foundation with mineral sunscreen, other makeup.
Night
1. I nearly always shower at night unless I take a bath instead. I wash my face and décolleté with PC Earth Sourced Cleanser, which is gentle and very effective at removing everything in one pass. I use a Clarisonic with sensitive brush about 2x per month.
2. If my face feels dry, I spread PC Resist toner over my face with fingertips. If I don't feel dry, I use PC Clear Regular Strength for exfoliation.
3. Vitamin C/antioxidant serum. Currently PC C15 Super Booster but I hate the smell. I'm not a DIYer.
4. SkinMedica Lytera -- two pumps for face and décolleté.
5. Latisse on lashes.
6. Optional. Moisturizer of the day. I cycle among NIA24 Skin Strengthening Complex, SkinMedica Tri-Retinol, Epionce Medical Barrier Cream, PC Daily Smoothing Treatment, and a few others.
7. Waxelene on lips, cuticles, and feet.
8. Plenty of sleep.
In the past, I've used Retin-A, Skin Biology Protect & Restore, and about every cleanser/exfoliant you can imagine. I now focus on the most gentle products that are effective for my needs. Hope that helps. |
