I have fine hair that tends to go flat in the course of the day. I guess my main problem is static, dry hair and flatness. I used to have dandruff but now that I rinse with vinegar once a week that issue is completely resolved. Dancing

I want to make the switch to a natural shampoo because I think conventional shampoos are too harsh and I do not approve of animal testing. Also, after my very positive experience with the vinegar rinse I am really interested in trying out more natural products.

What are your favorite natural shampoos?

giovanni!

I use giovanni tea tree triplet treat shampoo daily

then, I use giovanni wheat-something to clarify

Conditioners from giovanni, I use all of them, but my favorite is Smooth as Silk conditioners.

It's vegan, no animal testing, and best of all silicone free!

Since switching to silicone free shampoo, I don't get dandruff anymore.

I also tried tea tree shampoo by Avalon, but it dried my hair sooo much, and smell too masculine-ly for my taste.

I prefer shampoo without sulfates and silicone free conditioners. I suggest looking in the health food section of the store. You will also find this section has products that do not test on animals.

My hair is totally different than yours so I look for something to help with frizz.

I like Liz Earle and Acure Organic's volumizing shampoo and conditioner. DermOrganic is also pretty good.

loreal sulphate free - volumlising one is good. It does give volume, and I dont see so many hairs in the plughole after using this. Strange but when I use conditioner the hair just seems to fall out like nothing else. It makes it soft and slippery but also just comes into my hand ...needless to say I dont use conditoner.

The L'oreal Ever line is sulphate free. L'oreal is a major company that owns a lot of other companies. Unfortunately, it would not be considered natural or green if that matters to someone.

FYI, TJ Maxx carries the large sizes at 1/2 the price. DermOrganics gets pretty much rave reviews on Makeupalley.

I have been wanting to try this brand for a while now. Does anyone know if this would help with a really dry scalp?

On a side note, I just stumbled on Enkido products and I ordered a sample of their shampoo and conditioner. Will report back after using the sample sizes up.

I live in the UK and the product line that I choose for shampoo, conditioner and body wash is called "faith in nature". I like it because the products are not full of chemicals and yet they are reasonably priced. Many of these "natural shampoos" etc. are pretty pricey.

Rileygirl, I don't really have a dry scalp but I can tell you that the Dermorganic shampoo feels more moisturizing to me than any shampoo recently. This might be due to the texture, which is a bit more like a facial cleansing cream than a shampoo (to me). When my scalp has gotten dry in previous years, I started to see dandruff. Haven't seen any of that in a long time. In addition to the conditioner, they also have a masque which a lot of people seem to adore. I haven't used it as I find the conditioner perfect for my hair. I get mine at Ulta and they usually have very reasonable (like $10) try-me sets with several products. That's how I got hooked. Needed something for traveling and picked this up at an Ulta along the way. It was a great find for me.

I rotate from the avalon tea tree scalp treatment shampoo and using pure *natural* shampoo recipe which contains:Olive oil,Egg,Lemon juice, and Apple cider vinegar. I first massage coconut oil on scalp and hair and let sit for a hour prior to shampoo/conditioner.

Conditioners I also rotate from using VO5 conditioner, to pure natural conditioner recipe which contains : HOMEMADE CONDITIONER (wash out)
2 cups hot water
apple cider vinegar
sprig of rosemary
1 bag green tea or herbal tea
Let mixture sit for 30 minutes. Then use.

After conditioner I do a Weekly DEEP CONDITIONER treatment which contains : honey, melted coconut oil, lemon juice and warm olive oil. Leave in hair overnight (I don't work daily more like 12hrs 3 days a week so on my off days)

I also do weekly hot oil treatments (I have curly dry hair) and spray a *daily* homemade conditioner that contains:
DAILY CONDITIONER
Water
Aloe vera juice
1 tsp coconut oil (melted)
Coconut milk
10 squirts lime juice
*tea tree oil

Last but not least I massage rosemary oil in my hair daily before bed time...I've experienced *shedding* which so far isn't shedding as much and also want to grow my hair longer than what it is now Smile I also increased my protein, vitamin and minerals so I believe that's helping too. I just started this shedding reducing procedure maybe 2.5 weeks ago. So its early to tell but I've seen some improvement.

Another vote for Giovanni, to be precise 50:50 Balanced Hydrating and Clarifying shampoo. I am never without this.

Also in my circulation are Trader Joe's Nourish Spa and CFF Hair Repair.

I love gel/clear shampoos. Cannot stand creamy shampoos as they make me think of applying greasy creamy lotion to my scalp and so do not give me a sense of cleanliness the way clear gel shampoos do. Embarassed Worst offender was Creme of Nature which let my hair feeling as if coated with sap or slug slime...and the strands dried very hard like steel wool. Elucence was a little better but still I hate feeling as my hair just got coated when I am trying to get it clean. I prefer conditioners to be the creamy part of my shampooing.

Only shampoo I was OK with being creamy is Nexxus Therappe. I know it is not natural but I used it just on hair not scalp after deep conditioning with Nexxus Energencee. That is the only time I used shampoo not on scalp but just hair so didn't mind the creaminess...plus it didn't leave that nasty coating on haie that other natural shampoos seemed to. (My first experience with this sappy coating was with an Aubrey Organics natural shampoo. I cannot recall which one, but it put me off using natural shampoos for a long spell until I discovered Giovanni.)

Okay so I am currently using the Dermorganic and I am sorry to report that my hair is quite dry and tangled and has lost most of its shine Sad I am thinking about also ordering their conditioner, as the shampoo alone doesn't seem to be nourishing enough for my hair. I will stick with it a bit longer and try a few things because it has taken care of all of my dandruff issues to the point that I don't even need to do a vinegar rinse anymore. So that's good. Will report back in a couple of weeks.

I like both the Enkido shampoo and the Dermorganic shampoo. I don't think either one is my "HG" though. I find that the Dermorganic conditioner is too much, but I need something after it or my hair is hair to come through. The Enkido conditioner is better and I may try the Dermorganic shampoo with the Enkido conditioner. I am still on the lookout for a better shampoo. Both of these shampoos are nice but I am not 100% satisfied with either. The search continues.

Hey guys I'm really interested in Loreal everriche shampoos. They have taming version and a flowing version. Which is better. I'm leaning towards flowing one.

Volumizing one is from loreal professional. Hmm is it worth the investment vs loreal everriche shampoo???
