How much vitamin C should you take to help repair skin. I have heard that taking vitamin c increases the amount in the skin, which should help destroy free radicals and increase collagen. I'm looking to help repair fine lines, increase elasticity, texture and tone. So pretty much everything lol. I'm taking 2000mg split up inti 4x of 500mg throughout the day. Can I take more, should I? Someone on here mentioned a higher dose of like 5-6000mg a day. Thanks

You'll know you are taking too much if you get diarrhea. Then back off a bit on the amount.

OP,

See page 44 of the following book:

http://books.google.com/books?id=MvQJ1V7LgAoC&pg=PA44&dq=%22vitamin+c%22+mg+skin&hl=en&sa=X&ei=eHzJUvfNE4muyQHu54HACw&ved=0CGUQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=%22vitamin%20c%22%20mg%20skin&f=false

See page 159 of the following book--although this excerpt deals more with vitamin E:

http://books.google.com/books?id=c-pcb26nHV8C&pg=PA159&dq=%22vitamin+c%22+mg+skin&hl=en&sa=X&ei=eHzJUvfNE4muyQHu54HACw&ved=0CEwQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=%22vitamin%20c%22%20mg%20skin&f=false

Hope this was helpful!

I believe that Vit C usual recommendations by some of the pros is at least a 1,000 mg to be consumed (minimum a day). Vit C is usually water soluble, meaning it doesn't last or live very long within the body and so it passes out after a while if its not used. With the 5-6 grams a day I suspect that wasn't all taken at once, but perhaps a gram every hour or so. With Vit C I read somewhere one dr taking 12 grams a day - so you can take more and its hard to overdoze on it because of the water soluble qualities of it.

How about applying vitamin c topically? Have you tried a vitamin c serum like Cellex C?

I would really advise increasing vitamin C sources in your diet instead. I'm feeling like it's way better to get micronutrients through food rather than pills.
