Hello,
I've been lurking on this forum for a while but have never posted before. I've searched through the forums, but can't seem to find the answer.
I have very sensitive, dry skin and have become prone to getting a few spots of eczema on my face which then leave red marks which refuse to fade. Besides this, I've noticed pores on my cheeks seem larger. My skin seems to take a long time to heal and is also very pale.
I was wondering if anyone knew any good products or remedies for this.
I should probably give some background (sorry it's long)
I've had eczema for most my life and I've got an under active thyroid that went untreated for 4 years (stupid doctors). This is probably the cause of my dry skin.
During my Thyroid hell (this was about 2 years ago now)my skin looked awful and I stupidly tried different aggressive treatments which I think have contributed to the scarring and enlarged pores, one in particular I know had some effect. It was Paula's Choice AHA 2%. It was far too harsh for my skin.
Throw in to the mix a sudden allergy to Gluten causing Dermatitis Herpetiformis and my skin was a mess!
Over the past few months, with the hypothroidism and DH under control (DH finally 'went away' around August) I've really been concentrating on getting my skin back to normal.
I've started using gentler cleansers (cetaphil and dermalogica) I moisturise my body with cetraben and coconut oil and my face with rosehip oil and a natural goats milk moisturiser for eczema prone skin. Besides this I am completely gluten free.
I have recently been diagnosed with anaemia though, which could contribute to my skin's healing issues? At least I now know the cause of the constant and ever present dark circles under my eyes.
Most of the threads on this kind of topic suggest Retin A, but my dermatologist described tretinoin for the scarring on my arms and it was far too drying. I'm worried vit c serums may have the same effect.
Also, if anyone could suggest any good day moisturisers.
Oh, and I'm 26 and UK based. |
