They aren't free from fillers and Botox. They have very good injectors who make fillers and Botox look natural and not overdone.

They also have professional makeup artists and are wearing heavy makeup, which isn't as visible in photos as it is in person.

Of course, in most publications, they also have the magic of Photoshop-esque editing programs, and expert photo editors.

Every once in a while a paparazzi snaps a photo of a celeb caught without makeup. Those photos really show that celebs are just like all the rest of us.

A friend of mine was in LA and saw Julia Roberts in a mall shopping and said she looked her age, even rather dowdy. You'd never know she was a movie star. It's all smoke and mirrors made possible by great lighting, great camera angles, filters in the lenses, also botox, fillers and everything EthelM said.

I forget who the actress was but she was more eager to pose for paparazzi photographers who used ring lighting on their cameras because it filled the face out better in the pictures and made her look younger. Might have been Madonna.

They have great budget to invest on their face and have profession skincare advisors. Besides, as actress, they must pay more attention to their diet. Rolling Eyes

All great points. also.. movie stars and models photograph well. They can actually look better in photos and film than in person. It is part of why they are in that line of work.

That's a good point. I saw Lonnie Anderson decades ago on the streets - she was filming and was surrounded by an entourage. I was shocked - There was so much makeup caked on, layered on to the point of unbelievable horror on my part to realize who she was underneath all of that.
And then of course the filming commenced and she looked pretty on film. You would have NEVER thought that if you saw the reality.

I've seen many, many celebs who are nothing out of the ordinary but photograph well once you get the massive amount of makeup on them. The great pictures you see never indicate if someone is really beautiful or just photographs well with lots of makeup and contour.
My friend who is an extra in Hollywood for 30 years says the one true natural beauty that comes to his mind is Sela Ward. He'd tell you lots about those who are not, although he thought some were pretty cool or funny. He told me the really beautiful women he saw were the ones doing the makeup on the stars - not the stars themselves.

I've seen many stars and I recall Farrah Fawcett looked cute - plain, hair straight, 40's then, a nice look. she had no makeup walking down the street - petite: 5'2" maybe. Not the poster icon some would recall... more like the girl next door.
