Is there any difference between doing it yourself, or having it done at a doctor's office? Please share your experiences.

The procedure is performed by either a nurse or a medical esthetician in an office run by a plastic surgeon.

I did not have experience with dermrolling but a close friend of mine has bought derma roller on shop online and she did it herself because she is a nurse a capable of doing such but I think it was not quite easy. On the other hand my cousin had her dermrolling in a clinic approx. cost her 450 dollars for 5 sessions.

$450 versus $3.75

$15 roller divided by 4 home treatments = $3.75 a session Wink

Don't forget the water, cotton 4x4s, alcohol, whatever you use to clean your rollers and serums. maybe add $5.00 to your total?

A person I know has had the Eclipse MicroPen treatment done several times in her derm's office and likes the results (I have not seen her afterward.)

The difference is that the derm knows what length to use where and can aggressively treat areas since the "Flinch Factor" is absent. If we could adequately anesthetize our skin or somehow remain sedated but awake and aware (impossible) we might be able to approximate the way her doctor does it.

I like the "Less is Best" approach of Setterfield. I use the 0.5mm Dermapen all over every 4 weeks for PCIT and the 0.3mm roller for PP every night on the nights I dont do the 0.5mm pen. Eventually Ill get there but it will take longer imho. And Ill have the cash left over for a trip to Maui or wherever! Laughing

Last two week ago I went to dermatologist to accompany a friend of mine. We met a certain guy who wanted to have dermrolling but the assistant told him that dermroller would only lessen the visibility of the acne scars but will not totally erase the scar since the scars are deep. She added that he needs to have dermabrasion procedure then dermrolling.
