I'm having major trouble. I hardly ever wash my face, even exfoliate now. Because even when I use a cleanser my skin dries out. Inflamed, large pores, lines. It looks like it's damaged and all I'm using is a light foaming cleanser. One from skin medicA. However it usually happens regardless? Don't know how to clean face and make it look ok and glowy. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Please help. It's discouraging. Thank you |

Hmmm, sounds like dehydration of the skin. Does it improve if you use a moisturizer afterwards?
If you want to try a different cleanser, search for "oil cleansing" on EDS. It is more gentle than soap based cleansers. You are probably sensitive to an ingredient in the cleanser. Foaming cleansers are notorious for causing this. |

Your cleanser might be too harsh and drying for your skin. Also not exfoliating will make you look dry or older. The dead skin has to come off but gently.
You can try a konjac sponge. Saje.ca and Sephora carry them now and they are ebay as well. |

Foaming cleansers are the MOST drying cleansers on the market. You probably need to get yourself a nice creamy cleanser and the problem will resolve itself. Sounds like your skin has been stripped of moisture. |

For nice glowy skin, have you ever tried an herbal cleansing powder with white clay, colloidal oats and herbal powders like rosehips and lavender?
It wont remove tenacious sunscreen and/or makeup (not that you do) but its a nice moisturizing and gently exfoliating wash that doesnt strip the skin's barrier. |

I have been washing my face with only extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil daily for almost a year now, and it has transformed my skin. I used to use Cetaphil normal skin cleanser, because it is very gentle and what is recommended by most dermatologists. However, since using coconut oil my skin breaks out less, stays very hydrated, and it has reduced my fine lines. It also leaves me with a nice glow. Coconut oil is also a natural antibacterial, which helps with breakouts. It cleans deep into your pores and removes makeup like a breeze. I just put a tsp or more of oil in my hands, rub until melted and work into my skin. Wipe gently with a warm cloth to remove excess and splash with water. Voila, clean moisture rich skin. Initially the first week I think I broke out a bit, but since then my skin has been better than ever. I will never use conventional skin cleansers again, far to drying. At my age I don't need to strip my skin of its moisture, plus it is void of chemicals and sulphates. |
