Hi everyone,
I'm completely desperate at this point and don't know what to do anymore.
Ive been using Obagi NuDerm since January 28th, and retin-a cream since November 2013.
I started obagi to get rid of hyperpigmentation that I got as a result of tanning for the past 10 years. I would say all but one hyperpigmentation spot is gone, the last one being very stubborn.
I'm 27 and my skin looks just awful. Its red and blotchy from Obagi, which after all this time I thought would have stopped by now. Ive got all these fine lines all over my entire face, also from obagi I think. I look like I have the skin of an 85 year old.
I dont know what to do anymore and im sick of looking like this. I'm in tears right mow because of how awful I look.
The place that I go to for Obagi had me stop exfoderm but im still red and lined. Should I just stop all the actives im using? Even C serum?
Should I keep going with Obagi? Stop obagi but keep goimg with retin-a? My skin seemed to really like it before obagi.
I just want to look normal again, please help me |

Did the problems with sensitivity and redness start after adding the Obagi?
If your moisture barrier is damaged, it might be a good idea to stop actives for a short while. It could take a couple of weeks before your skin starts to look better.
If you seem to be OK with retin A; I would slowly add it back in. Even once a week has some anti-aging benefits. |

Before I started Obagi I didn't have any sensitivity issues at all. My skin is generally not sensitive at all.
During Obagi I went through all the normal Obagi peeling and redness phase. After my 11th week I went back to plastic surgeons office and told them I was tired of the redness. They told me to back off the exfoderm forte, and C serum (I use Nufountain C20), and use the Clear a couple times a week.
I did, and the redness went way down, but not totally gone. So I do think it's the Obagi causing the issues.
How do I know if it's my moisture barrier? I think I will back off everything for a couple weeks and slowly add the retin-a back in. I think the C serum also adds to it... Maybe I'll try an MAP serum...
Thanks so much for your reply, I hope my skin repairs itself |

when I did obaji..I had the same reaction. It was so hard to get through. It seemed I'd never look good again. I was still red and miserable three months into the program.
I say back off of it until your skin shows improvement..then just use it a few times a week.
stop the aggressive daily routine.
I used it years ago…and my skin did look amazing..but i stopped using it because who wants to look red and peeling all the time?
no one. not me. |
