I have not started rolling bc I am afraid of damaging my face even further. I am using it for some minor depressed scarring. I have done some research on the web & have found conflicting answers. I have read owndoc's instructions & the forum & it wasn't helpful. These are the questions that I would like to know. I would greatly appreciate any answers to these questions Smile

1. How often to roll to allow collagen regeneration
(I have heard 5x a week for the first 3months to 1-2x a week & 1x every 3-4 weeks. I have heard it takes 4-6 weeks to build new collagen & 8-12 weeks on this forum)

2. The numbers of times to roll an area. I have seen the video on owndoc but in the description it says she wasn't doing it the right way ( not slightly tilting it)

3. How often to roll to maintain the results. Like, do you roll more initially & then once you see the results you just have to do it once every 4 weeks?

I'm not suggesting that this is what you or anyone else should do. I started my regimen before it was recommended to do rolling once every 4-6 weeks. Since June 2013, I roll almost daily with a .5 MM roller. I had been using 1.5 MM daily (lightly), but switched to .5 MM 6 or so months ago. I roll approximately 10 times in each direction. Following treatment, I will use an oil and Tazorac. My skin tolerates this regimen well. Dermarolling has proven to be great for my overall skin condition. My acne scars are less deep, my skin is more even-toned and I break out less frequently. Additionally, I think it does help to plump -- although, some will say it's the constant inflammation. I don't know how this process has impacted the ability for me to produce new collagen and some will say that I'm interfering with the process by rolling so frequently. My derm is 100% okay with what I'm doing and how often I'm doing it -- he says it clearly works for me.

Good luck in your continued research.

I've followed the protocol at owndoc.com for almost 3 years. Recently Ive switched to the rolling philosophy of Dr. Setterfield which in a nutshell is to roll with a 0.5mm roller once every 28 days for collagen etc. and also to roll with a 0.20mm or 0.30mm at least 4 days a week for product penetration, etc.

If you are only interested in rolling for your minor depressed scarring, I don't see how you could go wrong by following Sarah's advice at owndoc.com and using either a single needle or Dermastamp and follow her PDF instructions to the letter.

I have read it hurts a bit when starting to use it, but it bought my roller. How do I use it and how do I clean the thing?

Do I need to do anything special to use it? Start with a clean face, yes. Do I clean it before first use and after?

Thanks.
