So I had a really bad cold and was put on 5 days of antibiotics and 4 days of steroids. I don't recall exactly which antibiotic it was, I will ask my doctor tomorrow. 3 days or so after stopping I noticed I developed some sort of rashy breakout around my chin and mouth area, a mild breakout on my forehead and now I have a rash (no breakout) on my cheek as well. Sad
It's been a week now and it's still not gone.

I know this is common after taking antibiotics and the usual advice is to eat lots of yogurt to replenish the good bacteria but is there anything else I can do to speed up the clearing of my skin? Also, the rash is kinda uncomfortable and a little itchy.

Penicillin antibiotics make me break out in a pin-point rash and sometimes hives.
You might call your doctor and explain what is going on. A different strain of antibiotic may be better for you.
I also take probiotics once I finish my course of treatment.
A light steroid cream on the rash might help in the meantime.

It's beyond me why doctors still prescribe antibiotics for a cold. Antibiotics don't work for the common cold, which is caused by viruses. Antibiotics only treat bacterial infections.
I highly recommend looking into "Thieves Oil"

I had a severe rash from a sulfa type of antibiotic. The rash did not appear right away, but it was awful when it did.

It is also common with penicillin type antibiotics.

I always take a probotic any time an antibiotic is required.

I know. Antibiotics are so over-prescribed. Really regret taking them, actually.
The rash is almost gone now, but my skin is still not back to normal. I've been eating a lot of probiotic yogurt and that seemed to help quite a bit.

I got a rash years ago from penniclin and the doctor says it was a classic allergic reaction. you should have your doc look at the rash and let you know.
