Hi
I have a question regarding the nerves in my face. For about 3 weeks in March, I was using a salicyclic acid toner and a mandelic acid serum. No adverse reactions. Then on the third week, I scrubbed my face with a clarasonic face brush. I really went to town on my face and scrubbed it, forgetting that I have been using the serum. I got an intense burning feeling from the scrubbing.
Now for the past 5 months, the skin where I aggressively scrubbed is extremely sensitive. At first I couldn't sleep with my face on the pillow. One night I got caught out in the rain and it felt like little things jabbing at my face. However, there is no redness or anything visible.
I will be at work and it will start burning or throbbing for no reason. It comes and goes through out the day. I also have not been wearing any make-up or using anything harsh since March when I did that.
I went to my primary and she prescribed my gabapentin and said it can take 6-12 months for nerves to recover. My derm said maybe I should see a neurologist to see what they say. Maybe I did something to the superficial nerves in my face and needs to heal.
Has anyone ever experienced something like this before? Lately my skinhas been flaking and my la roche posay isn't helping. I started to also get acne on my upper cheeks under my eyes but it is not normal acne. It feel like baby acne where very rough with small skin colored bumps.
I appreciate any suggestions. I am going to my follow-up with my derm tomorrow
Thanks! |

so sorry to hear about your face and pain . It may be some sort of neuralgia you are experiencing .You must go see a neurologist as your derm suggested. |

Sorry to hear about that, its hard for me to say whether you damaged the nerves or the skin because when you mess up the skins function a lot of craziness can happen. I think you damaged the skin and have made it super sensitive,
then again I dont know hardly anything about nerves...I just can't see how they could get so damaged so fast.
probably a good idea to check, because the throbbing is the thing that sounds really unusual to me.
Keep up with the prescription, and visit a nero. and come back and tell us how it went.
If it ends up not being a nerve issue, sounds like you threw off the skins acid mantle or damaged the barrier.
I will make a recommendation here...I can't say enough good things about this helping me repair my pretty damaged skin:

It's been 5 months for you already...can you tell us what youve been using since then? Anything?
I tell people when I chemical burned my face due to using two products on my face that shouldn't have been useing together that- my burn didn't actually heal until half a year later, and it still caused problems for me since because my face could no longer function right because of the damage- so you may have to wait and wait for your face to heal.
try and be patient, find things that will help repair the skins function, and try not to feel bad about all of this.
We all make mistakes, I'm happy for you it isn't any worse, not to say it isnt serious of course.
keep us updated and good luck! |

In fact, you can try lazy to treat you skin .no cleanser,no mask.If you are sick, you may also choose to have a rest. |
