Hello, lately I've been noticing my upper eyelids wrinkly. They seem loose. when I lift them the lines go away. They're not creases but fine lines. I'm only 22 and I've noticed this 2 weeks ago but now they're even worse. I don't know if it's allergies because my eyelids tend to get itchy and my eyes tend to get watery. The eyelid swelled a week ago but swelling went away. I don't smoke or tan I don't wear eye makeup I don't apply anything to the eye area. Should I invest in eye creams to smooth those lines? Try retin a? Has someone at my age experienced this? My parents don't have what I'm describing. In do bothered. Please my eyes look older than me. |

I was reading about allergies the other day and one medical site said that VERTICAL lines on the upper eyelid are more likely caused by allergies. Just a thought . . . |

Itching, swelling, watering, lines can all be indicative of dermatitis. You may need to take an antihistamine. You may need to see your doctor to discuss options.
Many times eyelid dermatitis can be caused by nail polish or nail products.....strangely enough. Google it for more info.
Cleansers can also be the cause of eyelid irritation. You'll have to try to become an ingredient detective or product detective to find the culprit(s).
G'luck finding the cause. |

One thing I will suggest is to be careful with heavy eye cream on eye lids. It is very possible to develop a new problem...waking up with puffy eyelids.
I have a lot of problems with allergies and use Rx eye drops. I am ok with lightweight eye products on my eyelids.
I really like this one from PSF. Available from EDS.

I also had a problem with dermatitis on my lids caused by the metal in my lash curler. I changed to a plastic one and the rash cleared up.
The poster who mentioned too rich an eye cream is very correct. It doesn't do anything but cause my lids to puff up. Most of the newer creams are lighter weight, but applying too much does more harm than good. The cream melts from body heat and drifts down into the eyes, which is an irritant. |
