I have been using it for 15 days but my pores look much larger than normal, thinner and skin also looks saggyish? I read that it thins out your skin...
I need help, I'm biased and confused about all the hype with this product? Who should or ho should not use Retin-a?
Still looking for my HG but it seems that with every product out there there is a do it or don't do it side effect/benefit.
So confused right now... |

Retin-A is a prescription medicine for good reason, and so without knowing more about you its difficult to make a recommendation (i.e. your age, your skin condition etc) but what you have read is a “partial” truth in that it thins the outer layer of the skin, but it encourages faster cell turnover deeper within the skin derma (i.e. the inner layers).
Retin-A has more studies done on its benefits than any other topical out there you can or are likely to read about. It was originally developed as a solution to acne problems, but they quickly found in studies that it had many antiaging benefits. One thing that is a must is SUN PROTECTION. Cannot stress that enough. Many people who start out using Retin A forget about that, and then have to deal with sun damaged skin.
I personally have used it 30 plus years and would never be without it.

| You may benefit more by using a milder version (Retinol). I love ROC MAX which is available at CVS and WalMart. It is about $22 which is much cheaper. It also has a creamy base which is kinder to my skin. It might take a little longer to see results, but I think it's worth it. Retin-a made my skin look like leather. The dr. said it would look bad for a while, but I gave up after a month of looking really awful. I even use the ROC (the #1 tube) under my eyes. (I don't use the #2 tube because the first tube has enough moisturizer and too much moisterizer makes my eyes puffy.) |
